ptwparkinson Posted February 19, 2009 Author Posted February 19, 2009 thanks for that -- will let u know how I get on
ptwparkinson Posted February 23, 2009 Author Posted February 23, 2009 it`s loaded onto the laptop and is playable have worked out ( thanks to you guys ) how to use full screen tried using a joystick and am still in the process of working out how to configure ---- probelm being that because the laptop is new it`s using Vista !!! and I have never used vista before so I am on an additional learning curve !!! I really want to burn it onto a DVD and then load onto my PC which is XP and I can find my way around XP but I tried the burn process and found that the 4.7 GB DVD`s are not big enough so off I went to PC World and bought some 8.5 GB DVD`s --- thought I had cracked it when it finished after telling me 15 hours then 4 hours then 2 hours all within minutes -- anyway when it was finally finished after about 45 minutes in total I put the DVD into the PC and it was showing as empty --- 0 !!!! so --- back to the drawing board I`ll crack it eventually !!! I will probably take the laptop to a friendly PC shop around the corner and ask his advice tomorrow --- will keep this site posted i am a tad disppointed because I was expecting to see scenery like the FSX Horizon Generation X photographic style scenery ( unless I`m missing soemthing )--- I know what you`ll all say ---- how can u expect this when what we have here is a replication of a 100000 trillion bilion dollar sophisticated fighting machine --- well if that`s what it`s all about I am sure it will be fine and I`ll just spend my time blasting away --- although what I am really really looking forward to is Oleg Maddox`s Battle Of Britain - Storm Of War
Washer UK Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 Im pretty sure the files will fit on a 4.7gb dvd disk, I burnt them too one. 1.3gb ish and 850meg ish files? Think it was only 4.5gb's when installed. Q6600 3.2Ghz, 4G DDR2 1066, ATI 4870, x52, TrackIR 4, Vista 64
EtherealN Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 ptwparkinson, I would really recommend that you try staying with Vista for this game, unless the Vista laptop is seriously weaker in hardware than the XP machine you have. This is due to Vista having much better multicore management for the CPU, which together with some tools made by this community can give you a 50 to 100 percent performance increase in Black Shark. Also, Vista has some clearly superior security features that greatly reduce your risk to viruses and trojans for reasons that are quite technical to explain. trlrandall Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I'm glad you finally got to see what it looks like. I on the other hand can't even open the exe. All that happens is a locked up computer. I have tried 3 times to different directory I have tried to start the exe. with open as adim. I have closed user accounts but still nothing. I'm running Vista 32, and this is the first thing that has locked up this computer, so I'm really at a loss. Waiting for response from support.
