I’ve been trying to figure this out for about a week and I’m stumped…

I’m trying to make a single-player anti-shipping mission for the Hornet and I ran into the following problem… I have my radar in SEA mode and I see two surface contacts in front of my flight. I want Wingman 2 to launch his harpoons at one of the ships and I want Wingman 3 to launch at the other ship. But they both always end up launching at the same ship! 😡

Ok Mission Editor experts, help me out, how do you make the AI wingmen do what I want???

In advanced waypoint actions for your flight, there should be engage unit. Select the unit you want your wingman to engage. Then order him to “do mission and rejoin”, he only attack that unit, not the entire group, you can the. Attack the other one

Thanks for the input. This works for this particular scenario, but my bigger question is whether it’s possible to have two wingman attack two different ships. I think the answer is probably no. I can do it through triggered actions but then I have to put the wingmen in different groups and they’re not really wingmen anymore.

it won't work with Harpoons anyway because those are fully autonomous fire and forget missiles.  Harpoons usually track the first thing they see when they go active.

Well that’s a problem, no doubt. But IMHO the flight lead should at least be able to command his wingmen to attack specific ships. It would be nice to have a radio command allowing the player to tell the AI wingmen “Attack my surface target” or “Attack surface target at 090 for 50.” Something like that.

 Su-25T, Ka-50, Mi-24P all FC3 plane does have in communication menu F2,F3,F4 Wingman2,3,4 -> F1 - engage -> F1 - My Target

It is really strange if Hornet does not have this command.

I believe the Hornet menu has “engage my target” and “engage my enemy” but neither of those commands works for anti-shipping targets unfortunately.
