DGC338 Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I have a ff2 stick and I am having problems with trim. I have swap FF axis in setup and reduced the trim force to 40 but the stick will not hold stick exact stick position when trim button is released. Tends to move back toward center which makes accurate flying difficult. I tried ff = false in the producer file and was ff stick has no centering power which makes flying very very difficult. Would prefer ff stick to act like a normal joystick (i.e having to centralize controls after trimming ) instead of the ff not holding trimmed position correctly. Ideas anyone.
Weta43 Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I'm using an MSFFB2 - If you still have the sidewinder software that came with it (or are using something else that allows it) turn off the centering forces on the stick & turn back up the FB forces. If the stick still has centering forces turned on - then yes it will try to center itself & not stay "as trimmed" Cheers.
miguez Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I have a problem with my MSFFB2 also. I take off, and accelerate to forward flight, while establishing my altitude at 300m. I am now stable, doing 280 km/h. I now hit the trim, and once released my MSFFB2 wants to be centered at a position halfway between the actual center and the right side, very bizarre. Anyone else seeing this?

FF2 I find, is finicky about trim, very touchy, but you can really fly the thing. E8600 Asus P5E Radeon 4870x2 Corsair 4gb Velociraptor 300gb Neopower 650 NZXT Tempest Vista64 Samsung 30" 2560x1600
DanKurt Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I have had the same problems. I found that the stick works fine when I am on my main PC running XP, but I am unable to get the stick trim working correctly in Vista (laptop). Seems like a driver problem to me.

Once trimmed, though, my stick's new center is halfway to the right, and from what I understand, it shouldn't be.

DGC338 Posted January 5, 2009 Author Posted January 5, 2009 any idea on how to adjust centering forces when the software won't work? Or can someone tell me how to get it going on Win XP 64?

A: This is a peculiarity of the device. Normal axis functionality can be restored by checking the “Swap Axes” checkbox in the "FF Tune" panel of the Controls set-up window in the game options. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=568713&postcount=9
miguez Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Hey Brute, Thanks, I have gone through the FAQ about three times and never saw that! But then again, when I can't find the butter in the fridge, my wife will come over and point out to me that it is literally in front of my nose. At least I am consistent :). I'll give this a try and report back.
