golfsierra2 Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 It surely depends on the opponent fighter that is aiming at you. AFAIK F-15C and Su-27 give almost the same readings, whereas a MiG-29S will give much weaker readings at the same distance. I think, 50% on the RWR will indicate somewhat about 100-120 km for the Su-27/F-15C, while at the same time it could be a MiG-29S at about 80 km distance. So the MiG with a weaker radar has to be closer for the same indication. Values are a rough estimate based on my experience. 1 kind regards, Raven.... RedTiger Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 There is a diagram someone made a while back that shows the ranges for various fighters based on the number of lights showing on the SPO. You might be able to find it at LockOnFiles.
DarkWanderer Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 In LO the RWR simple displays a part of emitter radar detection range. That is: 1 bar - twice the max detection range half of circle - target can detect you (+- one bar) - max detection range (depends on other factors) So, if you have the circle filled less than to a half - better not turn the jammer on, as this will hurt rather than help. Usually at 3/4 of circle you can launch a 27ER and turn aside - there's a good chance of HOJ. You want the best? Here i am...
Brit_Radar_Dude Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I remember someone making some tables of this information a long time ago, so it might have been made on v1.02 and may be out of date for FC. I kept a copy of the F-15 data. Enemy Aircraft = F-15 1 Bar = 200 Km away 2 Bar = 195 Km away 3 Bar = 180 Km away 4 Bar = 165 Km away 5 Bar = 150 Km away 6 Bar = 135 Km away 7 Bar = 120 Km away 8 Bar = 105 Km away 9 Bar = 90 Km away 10 Bar = 75 Km away 11 Bar = 60 Km away 12 Bar = 50 km away 13 Bar = 40 Km away 14 Bar = 30 Km away 15 Bar = 10 Km away It would not take you long to make a mission in the Mission Editor and keep pausing every time another bar lights up, go to F10 map view and measure the distance.
