TEMPEST.114 Posted September 27, 2022 Posted September 27, 2022 I've spent TWO DAYS fighting with the restrictions built in to the Mission Editor to create a campaign mission that will allow a red aircraft group to 'decide' to defect. Once that defection is 'detected' then all Red SAMS and red AI Aircraft need to turn hot to it. But the Mission Editor won't allow this. Even if I duplicate all red SAMS and aircraft with blue versions that are initially 'invisible' (an extreme approach tbh) then I still can't tell them to specifically target that red defection aircraft group.
cfrag Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 (edited) I think we should separate this suggestion into multiple requests: the ability of SAMs to target specific units the ability of SAMs to switch targeting parameters on command / flag the ability of SAMs to target friendly units the ability of Units to switch coalitions (since units are tied to groups, we probably need to also add the ability of units to leave groups and possibly join other groups) I think that although some of these requests would allow making some interesting missions, many of them are edge cases with rare applications. Then again, ME has a prominent Menu Icon and Menu Entry for 'new mission', something few people ever use, so why not add a mission function that people may actually use in a mission? TEMPEST.114 Posted September 28, 2022 Author Posted September 28, 2022 I agree with all those suggestions. The lack of being able to flip a coalition to a unit mid mission is a HUGE problem for so many mission types I want to implement.
