RimanDk Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 Finally dove into this campaign, but couldn't get through the first mission due to the framerate absolutely cratering once joining up with the bombers. Talking single digits here (i7 4790k, 32gb ram, 1080ti, 3x1080p screens). I think "The Big Show" allowed you to adjust bomber formation size to try and address this very issue? I looked for that option in the F10 menu while on the ground here, in Mission 1, but there's nothing. Am I doing it wrong? Is there something I can do to make this playable? I can work with 30'ish fps (it's in the 45-60 region at Biggin Hill), but it gets unplayable at 8 fps, unfortunately =(. Thanks in advance. 1 1
Reflected Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 There is no such option because there are less bombers here in the first place. Except in one mission but there you have the option. not sure why you’re getting an fps drop, you shouldn’t. Are you sure you have wake turbulence disabled? 2 1 Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord
RimanDk Posted October 9, 2022 Author Posted October 9, 2022 (edited) Actually, wake turbulence is enabled - am I supposed to turn it off, then? I can't find a place where that recommendation is made. Is this recommendation based in performance concerns solely or realism/handling also? As in - is this something I should turn off when flying busy campaigns or is the effect unrealistic when flying a warbird? Edited October 9, 2022 by RimanDk 2
Reflected Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 It’s not about realism, the effects just simply kills performance especially when there are lots of planes in the air. 2 Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord
RimanDk Posted October 10, 2022 Author Posted October 10, 2022 Huh! Okay - did not know that... also, it was pretty damn difficult to fly behind those formations! It probably comes as a surprise to none, but those bombers do whip the air something terrible! Alright, I shall try disabling it and giving it a go! Thank you for the tip.
RimanDk Posted October 10, 2022 Author Posted October 10, 2022 Okay, I just finished the first mission and I can confirm that Wake Turbulence was the culprit! Removing it made all the difference! Good call! 1
Reflected Posted October 10, 2022 Posted October 10, 2022 Cool, happy to hear it's solved! 1 1 Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord
Columbar Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 Hi Reflected, thank you very much for your great work! I had same problem with performance and wake turbulence off was the solution - almost 30fps safe In some of your video on youtube, you´ve mentioned, if I remember correctly, that you turn of this effect directly in your missions. So is this also case of Beware campaigns? In all your other campaigns I had not performance and FPS problem. I am switching between campaigns (modern and WW2) and almost always forget to turn wake turbulence back on in main setup menu. And sometimes it is annoying when you hit the tanker with F18 and have no turbulence behind his engine
Reflected Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 Yeah but now the user’s settings overwrite the mission settings by default 1 Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord
Columbar Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 I see... thank you for reply and keep up good work! You are the best!
