I can play it offline, am I right appreciate

Welcome to the forum! Your CPU is definately a little slow, although the game is very scalable, you might want to upgrade your cpu. The video card specifications you provided however, are a little vague. What type of GPU does it feature? second question: just make sure, before I buy. is the online English version = the download english version? I can play it offline, am I right The download version features both off- and online game modes. You do need a internet connection for online product activation (activation via telephone is also possible though). Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Airway Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Is it maybe one of those onboad graphic chips that in this case can use up to 512 MB of the computers RAM ? To your second question: you are right. With the downloadable english version of Black Shark you will be able to play offline or online just as you like. Regards, Airway

Both your videocard and your CPU are quite underpowered by today's standards. If I were you, I think I'd hold off on the purchase until a comprehensive hardware upgrade was possible. Mine is fairly smooth, but as the others so far have said, your system could turn out to be quite choppy with this game. My CPU is just about exactly 2x of yours, and I'm happy with the play, but at 1/2 of what I have now...I would definitely upgrade the main CPU before buying this. Weta43 Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 It all depends what you expect - if you accept that your on a lower spec machine & you're prepared to turn down the video options then you'll probably going to be OK - however, the word is that there will be a demo, so if you're really worried about it, you could wait & try before you buy rather than just giving up on the idea. (incidentally - don't know what OS you're using, but there's a thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=35091 about vista allowing a performance increase because it does utilise both cores to run BS. - I think it's probably an increase in performance benchmarked against the same system using Vista - but that could be because I have nothing good to say about that bloated, window dressed XP clone ...) Obiwan Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 I have an old Dell XPS M170, 2GHz single-core, 2GB RAM, Nvidia 7800 Go GTX. My settings are all set to high, except view distance (medium). On 1024x768 I get between 10-15 fps (if the battlefield is full of AI, it can drop to 6 fps temporarily). Yet, the game is still very much playable and enjoyable! I'm amazed on how good it still looks and plays on my old lappy. (I can go to 1920x1600 resolution and it drops only to 4-8 fps, which is broderline playable (Track IR movements are sluggish), but I was surprised that that resolution didn't take a larger hit. Sadly, I can't use dual monitor since that kills performance, so no Shkval screen for me). I'm really happy that it can run fine on older systems like mine. Thanks ED! :)

You can manually set the processor affinity in task manager once you are in the mission (i.e. in the cockpit), also there is a rather nifty script the does the same thing automatically.
