bin801 Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 hi, I'm new at here and need illumination 2 questions first: I saw the E-shop FAQ. the system request is "CPU: 2 GHz" also "the TFCSE engine will not take advantage of DirectX 10 unique features or multi-core processors." my system is CPU: Duo Core 1.66 Ghz/Ram: 2Gb / video card memory:512 Mb Do you think I can play this simulation smoothly? second question: just make sure, before I buy. is the online English version = the download english version? I can play it offline, am I right appreciate
sobek Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 first: I saw the E-shop FAQ. the system request is "CPU: 2 GHz" also "the TFCSE engine will not take advantage of DirectX 10 unique features or multi-core processors." my system is CPU: Duo Core 1.66 Ghz/Ram: 2Gb / video card memory:512 Mb Do you think I can play this simulation smoothly? Welcome to the forum! Your CPU is definately a little slow, although the game is very scalable, you might want to upgrade your cpu. The video card specifications you provided however, are a little vague. What type of GPU does it feature? second question: just make sure, before I buy. is the online English version = the download english version? I can play it offline, am I right The download version features both off- and online game modes. You do need a internet connection for online product activation (activation via telephone is also possible though). Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! H-street Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 what make model of video card? lot sof really low video cards have 512 memory..
Airway Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Is it maybe one of those onboad graphic chips that in this case can use up to 512 MB of the computers RAM ? To your second question: you are right. With the downloadable english version of Black Shark you will be able to play offline or online just as you like. Regards, Airway
bin801 Posted January 7, 2009 Author Posted January 7, 2009 appreciate to all of you my video card is Nvidia Geforce Go 7400 with 512 MB just make sure, my CPU Duo core 1.66Gb is hard to play this simulation right? pity thanks
slug88 Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 appreciate to all of you my video card is Nvidia Geforce Go 7400 with 512 MB just make sure, my CPU Duo core 1.66Gb is hard to play this simulation right? pity thanks Your computer will have a very tough time with this sim, unfortunately. Both your videocard and your CPU are quite underpowered by today's standards. If I were you, I think I'd hold off on the purchase until a comprehensive hardware upgrade was possible. Sunjah Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 (edited) appreciate to all of you my video card is Nvidia Geforce Go 7400 with 512 MB just make sure, my CPU Duo core 1.66Gb is hard to play this simulation right? pity thanks I play on a 3.2 processer (Intel 4-dual, but from what I've read this game does not take advantage of that), 2 GB RAM and a nVIDIA 8800 GTX. Mine is fairly smooth, but as the others so far have said, your system could turn out to be quite choppy with this game. My CPU is just about exactly 2x of yours, and I'm happy with the play, but at 1/2 of what I have now...I would definitely upgrade the main CPU before buying this. Great game, and well worth an upgrade, though!:smilewink: Edited January 7, 2009 by Sunjah Remember, on Nov. 4th, vote for Black Shark for President!!!
Weta43 Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 It all depends what you expect - if you accept that your on a lower spec machine & you're prepared to turn down the video options then you'll probably going to be OK - however, the word is that there will be a demo, so if you're really worried about it, you could wait & try before you buy rather than just giving up on the idea. (incidentally - don't know what OS you're using, but there's a thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=35091 about vista allowing a performance increase because it does utilise both cores to run BS. - I think it's probably an increase in performance benchmarked against the same system using Vista - but that could be because I have nothing good to say about that bloated, window dressed XP clone ...) Cheers.
bin801 Posted January 8, 2009 Author Posted January 8, 2009 my computer is a laptop, so change cpu means change whole but I will upgrade and come back I'v wait for this game for year appreciate
Obiwan Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 I have an old Dell XPS M170, 2GHz single-core, 2GB RAM, Nvidia 7800 Go GTX. My settings are all set to high, except view distance (medium). On 1024x768 I get between 10-15 fps (if the battlefield is full of AI, it can drop to 6 fps temporarily). Yet, the game is still very much playable and enjoyable! I'm amazed on how good it still looks and plays on my old lappy. (I can go to 1920x1600 resolution and it drops only to 4-8 fps, which is broderline playable (Track IR movements are sluggish), but I was surprised that that resolution didn't take a larger hit. Sadly, I can't use dual monitor since that kills performance, so no Shkval screen for me). I'm really happy that it can run fine on older systems like mine. Thanks ED! :)
Chizzy101 Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 I play on a 3.2 processer (Intel 4-dual, but from what I've read this game does not take advantage of that) Hi Sunjah, There is a way to take advantage of multi core cpu's in Black Shark. You can manually set the processor affinity in task manager once you are in the mission (i.e. in the cockpit), also there is a rather nifty script the does the same thing automatically. You can find more details here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=35091 I have a core2quad like you and can confirm it delivers a better framerate. Hope that is of use  [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "Glory is fleeting, but obscurity is forever" - Napoleon Bonaparte
