The Concorde visited the airport near my hometown 1987. To that time it was a real small airport and the Concorde could only land if the runway was dry.

The visit was two times cancelled because of rain.

i have visited the intrepid ,but this was before concorde arrived,

its a fantastic place to visit, also on deck is the A12 blackbird.

Pretty old school. You forget just how old it is/was :-(

M2 with the afterburners off & 100 passenger - not bad for today, nevermind then !

what killed concorde was the running costs and the noise levels.

and lets not forget the french accident, that was the nail in the coffin ..

 

imo it was a great concept for a jet , way ahead of its time ,but again was not available to the masses, only the rich could afford a ticket on her.

 

places were expensive because only a handful of them were built
