Cyborg71 Posted October 14, 2022 Posted October 14, 2022 In 7 years of DCS, I've never used multiplayer in its standard format. I'm building up to that, but I'm not convinced my internet speed is good enough for it to be a positive experience. The only online I've engaged in ever, is xbox Halo. So, consider my overall knowledge less than that of a visiting outer space alien.... I have 2 PCs. Both are very DCS capable. I have a single private wireless network. Each PC has DCS installed with the Apache module. Identical maps etc. I only have one DCS account and one Apache module (everything just replicated on both PC's) Is it possible for me to use both PCs at the same time on the same map to either, a) fly with a wingman b) fly with a cpg or pilot using both pcs to operate the same aircraft. I'm assuming at the very least I will need to create a different DCS account and buy a separate Apache module for one of the PCs. Then I've no idea how to go about setting up a private closed map to play on if that's even possible. My wifes a helo fan and thinks the Apache is cool. With the right set up I think she could be a muderous cpg. I wait in anticipation of being educated by the community. Cheers.

You can create your local multiplayer session as a server and your wife may connect and fly as a wingman without any issues But separate accounts, separate modules, and separate maps will be needed in case of Syria, PG, and Nevada. If you want to fly in the Caucasus, you just need another account and an Apache module. I can do a short tutorial tomorrow. I'm really sleepy. But hopefully someone else can help. What you want is a private closed server, not a map. Maps are things like Caucasus, Syria or Persian Gulf. You won't get a private map that's only available to you So, how do you get your private server? Well, it's actually quite easy: Just launch DCS, go to multiplayer and when you see the server browser with all the public servers listed, click on "New Server". In the next screen, you can choose a mission to play and adjust some settings (e.g. if the server should be listed on the public server list) and then launch the server. Now you're running the server, making you the host of the server. For other clients to connect to it, they just need another PC with DCS installed and they need to login to DCS with a different account. Then they will have to go to multiplayer and either select your server on the public server list (if you set it to be listed there) or they can also choose to "connect by IP". For the latter, they need to enter the IP of your server. If they are on the same local network as your host machine is (which is probably the case if you want to play with your wife), it should be sufficent if they enter the local IP of your PC. If they want to connect over the internet, they need to enter the public IP of your internet router (and you might also need to configure some port forwarding on the router, which I'm not going into detail here now, as this shouldn't be necessary for local network multiplayer). Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
