Digitalvole Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 I’m sure most of you have already seen this great documentary, but I only watched it last night. So here I am about to talk about it My big “take away” from it, and one of the many reasons why I think real life helicopter ops are so much more dangerous than the fast jets; you don’t even know you are getting shot up! I was trying one of my first night flying missions a couple of nights ago and the first point I realise I’m under fire is when I see a bunch of tracer’s fly by the window. Compare that to a jet and you usually have all sorts of things going bleep, bloop or bing to tell you things are about to head south. Meanwhile in a helicopter you don’t know until something stops working, hopefully not the tail rotor! My admiration for you guys who do this for real went up a few notches last night and there wasn’t many notches left after simply trying to fly the DCS AH64, and of course reading chickenhawk multiple times. The Longest Month is deffo worth a watch (Amazon prime) if you haven’t already. 2 1
