I have been a part of DCAF's 20sqdn for a couple of years now and could not be happier with it.

I used to fly the harrier mostly on public multiplayer servers like georgia at war or blueflag, but I was getting fed up with the lack of communication and coordination. When I joined DCAF I was impressed with the level of training and resources available. Also the care and planning that go into thursday ops is remarkable, from mission builder to squadron COs to controllers and pilots.

I feel that DCAF is great for me because the squadron manages to straddle the line between serious milsim and fun flying. We try to be professional during a mission and do our best with communication and executing the plan, but we also have a relaxed atmosphere otherwise. There are great resources available, but you can take it at your own pace, and you don't have to call anyone Sir 😉

Have to second Fritz's comments.

I had been happily solo flight simming GA aircraft in VR for a few years in x-plane, and just picked up the DCS harrier to see how a VTOL aircraft handled, had no idea about military flying/radio comms/weapons or anything like that.

Then I saw a post for DCAF on facebook looking for harrier pilots and decided to give it a go.

Now a year later I am flying low level coordinated strikes on the presidential palace, refuelling in formation at 20,000 ft and being talked down at night through solid cloud cover by ATC after four hours in the cockpit.

I have been taught, supported and encouraged every step of the way, and can honestly say I have never had so much fun online as I have had flying with the DCAF guys.

If you have ever wondered what multi player flying was like, just come give it a go - you wont find a friendlier, more knowledgeable bunch.

See you in the air 🙂
