bob charles Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Hi, Long time Lock On/Flaming Cliffs enthusiast. I just downloaded and installed Black Shark in 32bit XP. The sim runs fine but when I click on the separate blue multiplayer icon I get the main menu with the server, client, options and exit icons but none work. When I select options I just get a picture of a blue Ka-50. When I select client I get the drop-down LAN, History and Internet options and when I select Internet I get a window with some columns in it but nothing else. Nothing seems to work. I was under the impression that I should get a list of servers there. It seems as though the multiplayer software didn't install correctly. Oh, I gave the sim internet permission both in and out in Comcast's McAfee AV. Any suggestions? Thank you, Bob. Ulrich Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Please make sure that both TCP 10308 and UDP 10308 ports are open.
Scif Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 i would also add that since i disabled windows firewall and switched to Comodo Internet Security that i am now able to host MP games that show up on the server list. Clients still drop from time to time, but i am not sure that problem is my end rather than the net code having an hiccup now and then. bob charles Posted January 9, 2009 Author Posted January 9, 2009 Hi, Thanks Ulrich and Scif for replying. I figured it out but I'm not very pleased. I had my resolution set to 1920x1200 in the Black Shark Option Panel and while in MultiPlayer mode it makes the screen way too big. I was only seeing the center portion of the different screens so couldn't access anything except the drop-down menu for LAN, History and Internet. And that looked strange... not centered etc. When I set my resolution to 1024x768 (aspect ratio = 16x10) everything is fine. I even joined a MP mission to test it out. Funny thing there though... the throttle on my X-52 Pro wouldn't work. Is this a known bug? I'm gonna try the Page Up and Down keyboard keys and see if that works until I can figure out how to get my throttle to work in MP. I also manually typed in the TCP and UDP 10308 ports (in and outbound) but I think Comcast's version of McAfee AV opened them up automatically when Black Shark was installed. Though I could be wrong. Now I just need to print out ALL the key commands and get to work! Lotsa stuff to learn... but it's fun work. Hope to see everyone in MP and thanks again. Bob. nemises Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 (edited) Hi Bob, Be carefull to not get confused between the throttle , and collective... If you leave the controls set as default, for some reason the X52's collective control is set to the slider instead of the throttle axis. Make sure to go into your control option (for both "Arcade" mode and "simulation" mode..2 seperate control sets!) and change the COLLECTIVE control to the X52 throttle axis. You should also invert the axis so that pulling back on the throttle will add collective pitch (just for "realism"..you dont have to if you dont want to ;) ) *edit* I see your just having trouble in multiplayer.. sorry I should have read better in the first place. Be aware that there are 2 seperate control sets..Arcade mode and Simulation mode. If you join a multiplayer server, it may be forcing you to use the simulation mode, wheras your controls may only be set up on Arcade mode. Make sure to check both control sets and set them up as appropriate ...you can change between them by using the drop down menu on the options / controls page *edit* You will not need to map the KA50 Throttle (ie. the yellow levers ) on your HOTAS, as they will operate in only 4 modes. Idle, Low RPM , Automatic RPM and Emergency RPM. and you will only ever need to fly using Automatic RPM 99.9% of the time. The Pg-Up and Pg-Down keys move the throttle levers between these 4 positions. There are 2 other RPM governor modes that can be mapped (and are on the real KA 50 Collective) which will govern what they call "high" or "low" RPM , which deviate the goal RPM + / - an extra 3% (?)...suggest you read the manual about tose though, as I haveen't mapped them on my setup nor used them yet You "can" set the Throttle to an axis on your hotas (ie the game allows for it) , but unless you have a very specific setup or need for it, it is not recommended, and that you would just set automatic power at takeoff time and leave it there for the duration of the flight. 609 Avatar Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 i would also add that since i disabled windows firewall and switched to Comodo Internet Security that i am now able to host MP games that show up on the server list. I haven't played BS in many weeks and just tried it again. Black screen and computer is locked up. Despite adding DCS.exe and Launcher.exe as trusted apps in Comodo it is still a Comodo issue because if I shut it off it runs fine. Do you know what else I need to give permission to in order to run it? Thanks! S!
