Force trim not holding for cyclic

I use pedals and a joystick that return to center with springs, so both of my force trim modes are set to Central Position mode. Up until recently -- I'm not entirely sure when -- this has worked fine for me. At some point following the previous update, this function no longer works for the cyclic. The pedals continue to behave correctly.

I also tested this in Instant Trim mode, and that also does not work on the cyclic, but does work for the pedals. In the image below you can see I have moved my trim center on the cyclic, but the input center returns to zero. The pedals show the expected behavior.

Someone else I talked to does not have this issue. I have no idea whether it's something on my machine that's causing this, nor how I would go about fixing it if it was. I may just have to start uninstalling and reinstalling things.

Do a search here in the forums as I think someone else had a similar problem a couple months ago.  Can't recall what they did to fix it, but I think they got it resolved.

Found it.  Looks like he had to do a reinstall...

Good find @Floyd1212! I tried searching for "force trim" and I didn't immediately spot a similar post. I did follow similar steps, including removing and re-installing the module, and running a verify on the game's content base through steam. That's a bummer about reinstalling the entire game, but I guess it is what it is. I'll provide an update once this has been completed.

The have the same issue after updating to 2.9

I tried:

  • AH64 module remove/reinstall
  • remove all my settings (reset all AH64 settings, inputs etc.)
  • Updater Cleanup, slow repair
  • Remove/Reinstalling the whole game
  • binding vr motion controller, xbox controller

but always the same, so i really cant use the ah-64 now.

Any other option?

Did you try to remove whole saved games folder? And then do a repair. Even reinstalling the game will do nothing if saved games folder is preserved, since DCS first looks if that is available, regardless if it's new game or not.

Also, make sure you don't have FFB checked in  MISC settings. If it's checked, uncheck and try before removing saved games folder.

I am experiencing the same issue with cyclic trim with 2.9.

In the control debug window it shows trim position has fixed in new position after use of force trim (trim hat), but it does not reduce forces on cyclic. Pedals force trim action seems fine.

I have tried both Immediate and Center Action settings.

Then I went to Options / MISC ... and "Force Feedback" check box was activated. Deactivated that option and it resolved this problem.
