ovof666 Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 (edited) A good tip : use XBOX360 USB controller to get a perfect Skwhal controller :) analog stick so good, and buttons configured too :) Better than any HOTAS In addition of a X52 of course :) Edited January 11, 2009 by ovof666
7rooper Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Better than any HOTAS ..I don't think so. Actually, I'm using an Logtech Chillstream XBox360 controller and is so cool (both meanings ;)). It's intuitive and pretty easy to use but you get to need to bind more functions and 8 digital buttons, two analog ones, one crosspad and two sticks aren't just enough. My rig specs: Intel Core i7 4770 @3.4Ghz // Corsair 16GB DDR3 // MoBo Asus Z87K // HDD 1TB 7200RPM // eVGA Nvidia GTX 760GT 2GB DDR5 // LG 3D 47" 1920x1080 // Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS // Saitek Combat Pro Pedals // Thrustmaster MFD Cougar pack // PS3 Eye + FTNOIR
Moreno Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Yep the Cougar's Ministick is perfect and I'm TOTALLY HOTAS!
wolfast Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Better than any HOTAS :) um.... no.... :joystick: Im HOTAS all the way 30+ years flight sims -Alienware Desktop With constantly changing specs -Track IR 5 -Thrusmasters Warthog HOTAS #55179 -Saitek Pro Combat Rudder Pedals
deadsmell Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Hey you guys, a friend of mine just got black shark. I guess after hearing me rave about it constantly he decided to get it. thing is, he is totally new to sims, and he doesnt even have a flight stick. I am just wondering if you guys map the controller "in-game" or if you use something like xpadder or something. I am also wondering if anyone has been able to use one of the analog sticks (right stick) to control pilot head movement. and if so how do you do this. Thanks guys. I just figure if I can get this guy into it, he will end up buying the proper gear, but without any reasonable means of controlling the aircraft, he will probably just get frustrated and lose interest. if you guys dont mind sharing your xbox controller configuration for DCS that would be great. I would really appreciate it. Dont let the smell get to ya...............
EtherealN Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Tbh, be nice to the guy and buy him a stick as a reward for supporting a good product. Acceptable sticks start at only like 50 dollars new, if even that. And then teach him to use the mouse in the left hand to control view orientation. Takes a bit of getting used to but is second only to TrackIR once you've gotten used to it.
