Hello everyone.New flight simer here.Needs some help. I just bought the x52 pro and having some problems. Ok first when I flip up the cover for the missle button its not lighting up. Some of the buttons on the joystick dont make any clicking sound when pressed. One of the buttons on the throttle when pressed starts flashing and then another button on the joystick will start to flash. I bought this new from frys electronics. This thing is all messed up.

So my question is.. Has anyone else with this joystick exsperianced these issues or any others? Should I take it back and get another one or try something else. I was looking at the ch fighterstick or combatstick, but not sure how the tension is compaired to the x52 pro. If anyone here has used both these sticks please let me know.

Also would like to post a picture of my set-up is there a place on these forums ?

If I decide to exchange it for another one does anyone have a control file they can upload or maybe point me in the right direction to find some. There are so many keys to configure seems so overwhelming.

Hi Bud,

First of, what software are your using for your stick ? Go over to Saitek site and get the latest drivers along with the SST drivers. Now the flashing light you see is the clutch light, which is fire button i on the throttle and when pressed you will get the main POV hat flashing, telling you that you are pressing the clutch button. (I have all my lights turned off in the control panel.) Open up your control panel (right click the stick icon) and have a look at what LED's are turned ON/OFF. Now for the clicking thats a new one on me, the only click sound I get if you call it a click is from the two fire buttons on the stick buttons A & B. Timm

Hi Ozone,

I doubt whether your problems are as severe as you think. The targetbutton light not lighting up is unusual; I also have a flashing led when I push a button on the throttle (low-right) on the stick (hat switch lowest on stick). But... main thing is; do you have proper axis control and can you program your stick? Do you use the latest software from Saitek?

I have been a long time customer of Saitek products. The X52 is one of their best products in a long time; it is relatively cheap, good value for money and very robust in use.

You might have a faulty piece but as I said I doubt it. I suggest you test is usability and programmability and then find out whether it is faulty. Siatek gear has a certain Christmas Tree like quality, so do not get distracted by all the flashing lights too much :-)

I also Had these problems with my X-52, Mainly not lighting the buttons every now and then. Since I bought it online returns would have been a hassle so I disaasembled The top of the unit and found a weak solder joint to the top buttons on the joystick, I resoldered it and alll is well! If you bought it locally, however, it would make FAR more sense to return it to Fry's and exchange it for another new one. They are great sticks!

Thank you all for your replies. It seems my problems were fixed with the updated driver software except the (A) button that sometimes wont make any click sound when pressed. It is working though. The fire button is lighting up like it should also and the two lights that flash related to the clutch is normal you say. I did see an option that enable clutch mode can be turned off. Maybe that will correct the flashing lights I'm not sure what its used for in a flight sim anyways.

I cant believe I did'nt check for updated drivers. I guess I was to excited to get this joystick setup and running.

I couldn't find a place to post my setup so I attached a picture here. I got this cockpit for my g25 wheel from www.obutto.com. It works very well for both types of sims. For the price you cant beat it. Its very well constructed and comfortable.

Thanks again fellas.

Whoa reviving 4 years old thread but didn't find it anywhere else, so it might help someone :matrix:

Flashing problem is not problem at all. According to manual from http://www.saitek.com/manuals/x52_manual.pdf (don't know why but it was not in the box nor on CD) it allows you to switch profiles on the fly without need to Alt+Tab from game.

Here is the excerpt:

To change the profile on the fly

  1. Press the clutch button. The LEDs on your clutch and on the main POV control on your flight stick begin to flash on and off. Pressing buttons does not affect the game in progress when the clutch is engaged.
    • Note: When supplied, the clutch is set up so that you must keep it depressed for as long as you want it to be engaged. You can change the way the clutch works via the MFD tab of the Saitek X52 Flight Stick properties window. See Changing the way your clutch button works in Maintaining your controller settings for details.

[*]Move the main POV control on your flight stick up (north) or down (south) to scroll through your profiles. As you do this, the profile names are displayed in the bottom row of the centre section of the MFD.

  • Note: You can use the MFD to access any folder on your computer. To open a folder, push the POV to the right (east). To move up a level, scroll through the files and folders in the current folder until [...] is displayed, and then push the POV to the right (east).

[*]Select the profile you want by moving the main POV control right (east) when the profile’s name is displayed on the MFD. It becomes the current profile and its settings are applied when you resume the game in progress.

  • Tip: You can clear the current profile by moving the POV left (west). The buttons on your stick and throttle return to their default settings.

[*]Release the clutch. The way you do this depends on your clutch settings. Either stop pressing the clutch button or press and release it.

So it's not bug, it's feature folks ;)

Manual attached for future reference.
