Does anyone know of a way to mount the Takeoff and combat panels to the bottom of the MIP, on the bottom half of the panel mount ?

You would need to fabricate something, which may be easier or not depending on your skillset! I looked at doing this with mine and decided instead on mounting them on the sides of my chair, which was easier and they did not get in the way of my knees, which they would have under the screens......However, the plastic brackets for the screens are fairly substantial, so could accept screws etc if you needed to attach to them in some way....I am also trying to figure out a way to mount my viper gear ICP above the UFC in an unobtrusive fashion, but thats is not straightforward either....

In fact, that just inspired me………..e89ace50818633ec9ac6cc2002ed9469.jpg
 The OCD in me is a bit unsure of the off centre mounting position.....it would have gone above the UFC, but then impeded view of teh monitor....so its a good compromise and easily reached.....

Hello markturner1960

I was wondering does the stick come close to hitting the DDI when you push forward on it?

Thanks

No, I have carefully taken that into consideration! It stops short approx 30mm.

This is my setup; I had to find my own bolts and fudge it a bit but there is enough space to mount the panels below the side mfd's with enough leg room to slide in

@peten52 can you show me how you attached the panel to the mip bracket?

it's all a bit cobbled together, I'll take some pics tomorrow behind the panels, the original take-off panel brackets are just a bit off for the bolts, so I've supplemented them with good old cable ties, it's still a bit looser than I'd like but it does work and looks nicely integrated

As requested, a couple of pictures of my mounting solution for the winwing panels

It definitely could be improved to make them more stable. The extra winwing long bolts are too large for the panel mount holes but if you made them slightly bigger, they'd fit, also the holes are just slightly off centre to the mfd mounts but again if made bigger the holes would align

on one side I had to use a plastic spacer I'd got in my toolbox to bridge the gap and make a tight fit and then put a screw through the mfd mount so that the panel mount rested on it and could be adjusted to the right height. The advantage of using the winwing panel mounts is the panel angle's can still be adjusted.

hope that helps anyone looking to mount the winwing panels with the MIP

@peten52you inspired me! Thank you!

no zip ties, just re use some of the screws from the MIP that you haven't used though any m5 bolt will do and just use the native "bracket" that attaches to the panel on the hole furthest from the panel and then another below in the slot to lock it in place,,,, steady as a rock!

That's interesting....on my panels, there are no brackets for attaching it, just an angled steel baseplate. I wonder if you have a later version that maybe included these attachment points?

no that's it, what the manual describes as the "mount" about 9cm across, that is bent into a sort of extended U shape , with a semi circular end?
