What is the purpose of these settings:

HMD Mask (and MSAA Mask Size)

DCS System Resolution

Bloom Effect

Use Build in Audio?

When should I use these and when should I -not- use them?

I have the HP Reverb G2

MSAA Mask Size:

When you set MSAA Mask Size to 0.1 then MSAA is only working in the center of your Headset. If you set it to 1.0 then MSAA is also beeing used at point you do not look directly. Much better in my point of view. I hate it when iam looking arround and can see the "stairs" poping up when i move my head.

DCS Use system resolution:

Here you force DCS VR to use the game Resolution set in "system" for example fullhd and not the resolution of your headset (much higher) and in my case its smoother to use the system setting

Bloom Effect:

I never noticed a difference between on/off in VR - maybe a little bit sharper without bloom on

Use Built in audio:

Forces the audio to your headset (output, also the microphone for chat)

Thank you LOW_Hitman!

DCS System Resolution: This means that with this setting on the resolution will be lower than what the Reverb G2 can offer, but most likely a smoother experience?

Use Built in audio: I see what you mean, but I do not see the reason? Where would the audio be forced from? It is already in the Reverb G2 headset.

HMD Mask and MSAA Mask Size: So this setting works together with MSAA in System Settings? If MSAA in system settings is off, this will have no effect?

No, this option is only used for the VR-Mirror that is shown on the desktop. It does not affect anything that is displayed inside the VR-Headset.

Thnx Eugel - yes System Resolution is only for the "mirror" - i tried different settings and iam not sure how much impact this setting have for your experience. So i set it to DCS Setting maybe the fps output is a little bit better.

Thank you both.

I wish there was a detailed explanation of what each setting in DCS did. Not to mention what the different nVidia settings will do in both VR and desktop (but I guess that is a different topic)

iam with you, most of the settings you have to try and find out by yourself. I tried so much different settings - also outside of DCS (Oculus Tray Tool and so on) But i found my new love in DCS and so i will continue to test some different settings. Everyday something new to learn 🙂 stay safe and all the best!
