GGTharos Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 (edited) Probably Ka-32. Probably. Edit: Just checked, and that's what Admiral Vinogradov seems to house: Ka-32's. Vekkinho Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Guys, Russia Today was always fun, hell, it's not even a Russian TV/news agency and it's always kinda inconsistent! Fact is that the vessel in picture is not admiral Vinogradov (#544) but a Marshal Shaposhnikov (#572) of a same Udaloy I class. Now it makes me wonder which one of these is deployed in Indian ocean, i.e. is this story true at all or just a Russian chest bashing?! Helo onboard Udaloy-I is a singleton Ka-27 Helix! More info, in fact it's entire database of naval vessels including Russian destroyers here: http://www.maritimequest.com/warship_directory/russia/destroyer_index.htm [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
GGTharos Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Bah, Ka-27, Ka-32 ... :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Vekkinho Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Bah, Ka-27, Ka-32 ... :D I wasn't implying on Ka-27/32 thing in my previous post, RT had a lot of misinfos lately so Russian Udaloy destroyer off the Somali cost might be also a urban legend! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Alfa Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 (edited) Fact is that the vessel in picture is not admiral Vinogradov (#544) but a Marshal Shaposhnikov (#572) of a same Udaloy I class. You are wrong Vekkinho - #572 is the Admiral Vinogradov :) . Marshal Shaposhnikov is # 543 and is quite easy to identify because it has a rather weird looking circular antenna at the top of the forward mast(over the bridge structure) instead of the Topaz radar - none of the other Udaloy class vessels have that. Now it makes me wonder which one of these is deployed in Indian ocean, i.e. is this story true at all or just a Russian chest bashing?! According to recent info, the Admiral Vinogradov of the Pacific Fleet took over the task of patrolling the Somali coast - i.e. replacing the Neustrashimy. So RT is correct on all accounts Vekkinho :) . Helo onboard Udaloy-I is a singleton Ka-27 Helix! All Udaloy vessels carry two Ka-27PL helicopters. The Ka-27PL(with export designation "Ka-28") is the antisubmarine variant. The SAR variant is called Ka-27PS, while "Ka-32" is the designation for the civilian version. Alfa Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Probably a little too much credit there :D . Anyway, it is very easy to be confused about those numberings - lots of Russian naval ships have had both their names as well as pennant numbers changed several times. In case you are interested here is a list of the current ships/numbers for major Russian surface combatants in operational service: Cruisers Project 1143.5 #063 Admiral Kuznetsov - Northern Fleet Project 1144.2 #099 Piotr Velikiy - Northern Fleet Project 1164 #055 Marshal Ustinov - Northern Fleet #121 Moskva - Black Sea Fleet #011 Varyag - Pacific Fleet Large Antisubmarine Ships Project 1155 #605 Admiral Levchenko - Northern Fleet #619 Severomorsk - Northern Fleet #678 Admiral Kharlamov - Northern Fleet #543 Marshal Shaposhikov - Pacific Fleet #548 Admiral Panteleyev - Pacific Fleet #552 Admiral Tributs - Pacific Fleet #572 Admiral Vinogradov - Pacific Fleet Project 1155.1 #650 Admiral Chabanenko - Northern Fleet Project 1134b #713 Kerch - Black Sea Fleet Destroyers Project 956A #406 Gremyashchy - Northern Fleet #434 Admiral Ushakov - Northern Fleet #610 Nastoychivy - Baltic Fleet #620 Bespokoiny - Baltic Fleet #715 Bystry - Pacific Fleet #778 Burniy - Pacific Fleet Project 61M #810 Smetlivy - Black Sea Fleet Frigates Project 1135 #801 Ladny - Black Sea Fleet Project 1135M #808 Pytlivy - Black Sea Fleet Project 1135.2 #702 Pylky - Baltic Fleet Project 1154 # 712 Neustrashimy - Baltic Fleet JJ
Vekkinho Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Thanks Alfa, please tell me did anyone made any plans on upgrading Pyotr Veliki 3D model for use with LOFC? I believe there was a rumor on Naval ops mod! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

I believe there was a rumor on Naval ops mod! I don't know if anyone had such plans, but ships aren't exactly in focus with ED or modders, so I doubt it :) JJ
RvETito Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Bah, Ka-27, Ka-32 ... :D Boooooooo! :D Perhaps I should mention that Ka-32 is "civilized" version of the Ka-27PS. 2 "See, to me that's a stupid instrument.
