Pimax 8KX Software IPD Adjustment

I’ve read a lot of complaints about Pimax and problems with blurriness and uncoordinated binocular vision.  I too have been extremely unhappy with my purchase but I have a fix that works for me and hopefully it works for you.

My IPD is 60-61, so I’ve really had a tough time adjusting the clarity and binocular vision of my Pimax 8KX for the 7 months I have owned it.  At one point I gave up and went back to my trusty Quest 2, great view, great comfort, nice for DCS Hornet.
At last, through endless experimentation, I figured out what works for me.  I set the mechanical wheel adjustment to 60, then what ever direction I set in the software IPD adjustment for one eye (minus or plus) I set the other eye opposite.  
Since it seems the right eye is way out right, I adjust the right eye minus to move it left - and the left eye plus.  Currently I have it set at -3.00 for the right eye, and +3.00 for the left eye.  Using Pimax Experience text in front of me to adjust for clarity, I started at left zero and right zero, and increased them in opposite directions 0,1mm at a time each side, until my vision was as clear and sharp as possible, and binocular separation was virtually invisible.  I still have minor tweaks to do, like perfect vertical, but this is fantastic now.

Like I said, it works for me and now my Pimax 8KX is everything I had hoped it would be.

LOL, interesting!  I have to admit that even after a year, I still tweak mine.  Here is what I have set now but note that after a few beers I do sometimes move a few points negative on the right eye to -2 or -3 to clear things up again.

Also, since recently getting the 4090 I have also discovered how well enabling Smart Smoothing in Pitool improves things!

Can I ask if you use base stations with your pimax I'm thinking of purchasing the 8k x dmas.

I am using the same base stations I used with my old Index.  I think they are version 2's but I can't remember.

Thanks I think I read that for 6DOF I would need base stations which bumps up the price.

You can buy Vive base station[s] on Amazon fairly cheap.If you only use VR in seated position you really only need one.
