Dustbag1969 Posted November 24, 2022 Posted November 24, 2022 I am planning to upgrade my graphics card before Christmas and my budget is up to £900. It looks like the new amd cards are going to be more than this so I am interested in recommendations. Current system Ryzen 5800x3d X570 gaming plus Gigabyte 2080 1tb m2 drive 32gb DDR @ 4200mhz HP G2 ver2 Windows 11 Thanks

X_legio Posted November 26, 2022 Posted November 26, 2022 RTX 3080Ti you can find a good used one at fair price. Push like the 3090 but less consume and less heat. The 40 series will be overpriced for months, needs a lot of Watt. Hopefully the developer will do better with the code and with your cpu will be ok.

If the card is for VR he should aim for 3090 due to the increased VRAM, 12gb is not enough if you want high resolution on today DCS. And about 40 series, 4090 one its incredible efficient, way more efficient than 30 series, my 4090 can do the same performance as my last 3080ti with 50% less watts Edited November 26, 2022 by 5ephir0th 1 NZXT H9 Flow Black | Intel Core i5 13600KF OCed P5.6 E4.4 | Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX | G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo DDR5-6000 32GB C30 OCed 6600 C32 | nVidia GeForce RTX 4090 Founders Edition | Western Digital SN770 2TB | Gigabyte GP-UD1000GM PG5 ATX 3.0 1000W | SteelSeries Apex 7 | Razer Viper Mini | SteelSeries Artics Nova 7 | LG OLED42C2 | Xiaomi P1 55" Virpil T-50 CM2 Base + Thrustmaster Warthog Stick | WinWing Orion 2 F16EX Viper Throttle | WinWing ICP | 3 x Thrustmaster MFD | Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals | Oculus Quest 2 DCS World | Persian Gulf | Syria | Flaming Cliff 3 | P-51D Mustang | Spitfire LF Mk. nikoel Posted November 27, 2022 Posted November 27, 2022 (edited) Yeah man, wait an other month or so RDNA3 cards should push 3090/ti prices way lower than they currently are at In a perfect world [which this is not] and if price to performance is equal [which it is not]; with a 7900XTX at [advertised] $1K, a 6900XT should be worth around $500USD thus a 3090 should be selling for $650.00 to account for roughly 1-10% better raster and way better Raytracing and significantly worse performance than the new gen I will be first to admit this ain't likely - but with the likes of Dell and other computer makers reporting a demand glut, we might be up for a perfect pricing reduction storm. I remain optimistic. A month is not that long to wait P.S. 7900XT is 900USD, no? Or are you pricing in an other crash of the pound between then and now? Edited November 27, 2022 by nikoel
