Dickie Posted December 21, 2022 Posted December 21, 2022 Hi Noticed recently that the AV8B airspeed is indicating 30 knots when stationary. It behaves normally when above this speed but returns to 30 knots when hovering or stationary on tge ground. Anybody else seen this?
Spurts Posted December 21, 2022 Posted December 21, 2022 that is likely the minimum speed at which the system can read and as such speeds below that show the minimum value. 1
Xpendable Posted December 21, 2022 Posted December 21, 2022 Yep. The changed it to be accurate. This is what the real plane does. Airspeed is not available until you exceed 30 knots.
MiG hooked Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 I was recently wondering about the very same issue. Although people assured me, that it ist correct, that aircraft can't display a correct speed below a certain threshold, 30 kts seemed a bit too much for an aircraft that is able to hover in my laymens opinion. So I looked for HUD-videos of Harriers taking off or landing and found this one: Claiming to be a landing aboard HMS Invincible, I guess this is a GR.7 or 9. The HUD Display certainly looks very familiar. And for most of the time it looks indeed like the speed never shows less than 30 kts, but in some frames it drops below 30 to 29/28 kts. Which should be Impossible to be displayed, if it is Limited to 30 kts, again in my laymens opinion. So I wonder/hope If that threshold for the AV-8B might be lower than the current 30 kts. Best regards, MiG_hooked
