tadpole207 Posted December 22, 2022 Posted December 22, 2022 Howdy, Does anyone use an extra single-handed keyboard with aforementioned inputs that help use key commands without having to memorize the locations on the full sized keyboard or slightly pulling up VR goggles so that i can use frequent commands on a smaller keyboard that i would either mount or store to the right of the main keyboard? I find myself having to use certain keys which require my to lose situational awareness? I would like something with keys i can program as well as a few letters so that i have a much smaller piece of equipment to memorize locations without the fear of hitting the wrong key while being able to leave my VR headset on? I apologize fot the crappy explanation but i think a few of you know what i mean. I can grab the mouse without having to peer under my VR goggles but that limits me to what i can do. Was thinking Beastron or Razer Tartarus but i figured all the Brad's with big brains have better solutions in place. thanks in advance Tad
hsth Posted December 22, 2022 Posted December 22, 2022 I've been using the Logitech G13 for years now. Great tool that you can create various profiles on. Never understood why they stopped making these. If you can find one I'd surely recommend.
tadpole207 Posted December 22, 2022 Author Posted December 22, 2022 I see a couple on ebay around the $100 mark, but most are "severly" used. What do you think of these? 1. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YQKS4B5/ref=ewc_pr_img_3?smid=A2L77EE7U53NWQ&psc=1 2. Amazon.com: Beastron Aula Excalibur One Handed Mechanical Gaming Keyboard, Blue Switches, Software Customizable RGB Backlit Effects, 8 Programmable Macro Keys, and Removable Wrist Rest : Video Games I was thinking more of #1 since it has a hat switch on it. What did you mainly map things to? On your logitech, what did you use the hat for? Did you have any issues with the existing keyboard (conflicts?)
hsth Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 #1 would be my choice, #2 would be too much for me to handle in VR. I program commands that are most common for most planes, for example: centre view, pause, F1/F2/F3 view, kneeboard, eject, fps counter, icons. And I never had any problems with other peripherals. Only had to update to latest Logitech gaming software (version LGS_9.04.49_x64_Logitech) because of Windows 11. Because I can use multiple profiles (different sims) it also works great for specific planes like MiG21 as they programmed different keys for kneeboard.
