Chibawang Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 I'm interested in remodelling some of the civ traffic and buildings, but I have no idea how this game works in the modelling department. There's alot of information on skinning available, but modelling tutorials are hard to come by. Does anyone know of any information on what needs to be done or necessary tools/plugins to get a model into BS? Basically what I need is a viewer and exporter, preferrably for 3d studio max, but I can use Maya as well. Thanks in advance.
beczl Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 (edited) Hi, You have to use 3DSMAx 7-8. Check the links below for the export plugin and the recommendation. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=18234 http://www.lockon-models.com http://lockon.co.uk/index.php?end_pos=545&scr=default〈=en All the best, beczl Edited January 22, 2009 by beczl Link modified
crazyeddie Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Not sure why you think it will be worth the effort mate !! As with LFC you have to use existing models as the basis for the new LOM model and buildings will only sit where the original was, or a truck will replace an existing truck. If you swap the buildings around and try to place them as static objects you hit another problem, coalitions, and there is no way around that either, I have just given up on that idea. ED have the data hard coded and you cannot change it. I have been waiting for BS patiently for several years and had hoped ED would let us have more freedom to improve things but sadly that is not to be, what we have is all there is, you can tweek the textures etc and that does make things marginally better but overall this is it.
