S7_Viper Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Well as stated in a previous post... I have had the game since saturday night. I tried to fly, but made a arse of myself. So I promptly read 50 pages deep in the forums over the last 3 days. I got home from work today with the intent of at least starting the APU on the tarmac. I made a mission in the editor with just my bird sitting on the tarmac... And got in. It took me 25 min to get the left engine running the first time. And then I could not get the right one to get over 25% before falling back down. I finally figured out I was waiting too long to throw the Cut-off Valve Lever up. Then I had a running helo. After that it took me another 20 min to turn on all of the other systems. I still have not figured out the fire supression system, and I have not even started on weapons yet. For the next 2 hours, I just started the bird, exit the mission, restarted it and did it again. 2 hours later, I did the APU start in 73 seconds, and the rest of the systems in just over 3 minutes... I figured I would take her for a whirl then. I played it like it was real, requested taxi, then take-off. Got her up, flew out a little ways but when I tried to turn her back around, I think I crossed the rotor blades... I promptly crashed. I want to turn the auto-pilot heading, pitch, and bank off... its much more nimble, but it was suggested not to, and it is not allowed by the real pilots. So I tried again... Full startup and takeoff in less then 5 min this time. I flew out, turned more slowly, and came back, and landed on the same spot I left from. The difference, slow and steady, and trimming every 10 seconds or so. I had the worst day today with the news I got at work. I did not think that anything could break my mood... But I was wrong. Thank you guys for the great forums, advice, and community. You all made my day.
BRraptor Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Great read. Whatever happened at your job, be cool. Doing anything hot-headed is likely going to end in trouble. Relax, take a breath, count to 10, fly virtually a little (even FSX helps), and get some sleep. If the troubles does not disappear, at least the solution to it will be clearer. Good luck! 1

Pilotasso Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 WOW you have to cut the shutoff valves manualy? The aircraft I work with cut them down automaticaly as RPM increases during the start. Russian aircraft realy arent user friendly! :D .
S7_Viper Posted January 21, 2009 Author Posted January 21, 2009 It is the cutoff, but I think I am opening it. Thanks for the advice. Now I just can just hope this day goes as well as last night... and I have more stick time to look forward to tonight.
Pilotasso Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 I was referring to engine bleed valves (my bad) . Are we talking about the same thing? .
