Moxica Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Using a drone as JTAC with laser, I tried to set acq to SKR, and slave tads to it. It still looks to some point in the sky. How can I get it to see the lased target? admiki Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 You need to be in constraints in the first place and have LOS to target. Do you have big solid box on your TADS? 1

Did you go through enough prompts in the comms menu to get the JTAC to turn on the laser? Did the TADS slave to the acquisition source? Did the seeker have a lock on the laser designation before you slaved? Were you within 8km? Pointed at the target? Lots of variables. Edited January 12, 2023 by Poptart 1

Besides that, it is very important to note if you are using the drone as JTAC in the day or at night. In daylight DCS native JTAC works fine, at night they cant see nothing more than 300 meters away. 1 This is an amazing sim! 'Nuff said!:pilotfly: YouTube: SloppyDog
Moxica Posted January 12, 2023 Author Posted January 12, 2023 (edited) Thank you! JTAC added through DCS tools. All prompts done, and I can fire and even hit all targets. (JTAC command is: "Shift" after first target is hit) Well within constraints. Daytime with clear LOS for both me and drone. No clouds. I believe I might be doing something wrong when slaving: I choose SKR as ACQ, and press "slave" Tads then move to a point in the sky above target. Target outside (under) the monitor screen. PS! I use suggested altitude from the "database" after entering JTAC's coordinates. As in, I use the suggested altitude, and I do not bother with altitude info from JTAC, assuming it is correct in the database. (A little less hassle when entering numbers, wearing Quest2 goggles) Hm.. Moxica Posted January 12, 2023 Author Posted January 12, 2023 (edited) Came to think of it as I now suspects some erratic altitudes; I have an AI Viggen attacking a ship nearby in the same mission. Supposed to fly at 260 ft. It flies way higher than me/my apache even when my altidude is 450-800 ft. It starts with 260 ft. over sea, and turning over land and will change its relative altitude over land, though Edited January 12, 2023 by Moxica ASUS ROG Strix B550-E GAMING - PNY GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming VERTO EPIC-X - AMD Ryzen 9 5900X - 64Gb RAM - 2x2Tb M2 - Win11 - Pimax crystal light - HP Reverb g2 - Oculus Quest 2 - Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS - Thrustmaster Pendular Rudder - 2X Thrustmaster MFD Cougar - Audient EVO8

The way I remember; I have a big box when I have line of sight and missile is in "DIR" In "Hi" there is a small box. (LOAL) Edit: I remember correctly: (It still point to the sky above target, and Hellfire overshoot by a couple of meters. Moxica Posted January 12, 2023 Author Posted January 12, 2023 (edited) Ok. So I fiddled around changing acq back and forth and unslaving/slaving a couple of times, and it changed view. And now I see why I miss: Edited January 12, 2023 by Moxica ASUS ROG Strix B550-E GAMING - PNY GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming VERTO EPIC-X - AMD Ryzen 9 5900X - 64Gb RAM - 2x2Tb M2 - Win11 - Pimax crystal light - HP Reverb g2 - Oculus Quest 2 - Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS - Thrustmaster Pendular Rudder - 2X Thrustmaster MFD Cougar - Audient EVO8
