topol-m Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 I`ve mensioned in another thread that i`ve noticed in a custom created scenario the fighters with SEAD mission dropped their payload while taking evasive maneuvers and releasing chaff after some long range Sams launched missiles at them. This happened at approximately 25 km from the Sams. How are they supposed to complete the mission after that? If this is a regular action in similar situations then it is impossible to use fighters to destroy such types of Sams. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Yellonet Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Yeah, they're idiots really. You may need to give the SEAD flight longer reaching weapons or better cover on the approach. i7-2600k@4GHz, 8GB, R9 280X 3GB, SSD, HOTAS WH, Pro Flight Combat Pedals, TIR5
Frederf Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Of course jettisoning to go defensive against a SAM rather ruins your chances of attacking the objective but it's not unheard of. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the custom mission maker placed the SEAD aircraft in a not-too-smart spot so they got shot at. Try opening the ED-made missions and see how their SEAD flights are given flight plans and compare against the user-made mission.
