Please can someone give me a set of detailed instructions on how to join a friend in MP. If we would like to build a few missions and fly on our own initially.

If someone has detailed instructions it would be fantastic.

Thank You

Hi.

  1. The host must have a public IP address (can be found here, for instance).
  2. The host must open port 10308 (both TCP and UDP) in his/her PC firewall.
  3. The host must configure his/her router to forward port 10308 (both TCP and UDP) to his/her PC local IP address. This part can be tricky for there are many different routers around the globe. It is sometimes needed to use Port Triggering as stated here.
  4. Then the host can run DCS, click "Multiplayer", "New Server" (down below), enter the server name and password, tick "Public server" so it appears in the MP servers list, then click "Start".
  5. Now that the server is up, you need to determine whether it can be reached over the internet or not:
    • No need to try and connect through DCS, you would lose a precious amount of time: simply use the Open Port Check tool. Enter the server public IP address and port 10308. As long as the port is deemed "closed", clients won't be able to join.
  6. Once the port is deemed "open" by the Open Port Check tool, and only then, clients can start DCS and look for the server in the MP server list.
    • At this stage, if clients are unable to see the server in the MP servers list:
      • Clients must ensure they are using the very same DCS version as the one who's hosting.
      • Host must ensure IPv6 is not in the way.
