lwalter Posted January 17, 2023 Posted January 17, 2023 WIth Quest 2, you can use your hands as the controllers and it works pretty well in existing VR titles. In DCS, I can use the default controllers with no problem, but I can't seem to be able to use my hands as controllers. That's a pity, because it would be so great to (virtually) push the buttons and switch with your fingers. Did anybody manage to make it work? 1 iMac Retina 5K, 27-inch, i7 4 GHz, 32 GB RAM, AMD R9 M395X 4 GB | Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog | Cougar MFD | MFG Crosswind | EDTracker Pro | Realteus ForceFeel DCS World | Bf109 | Fw190 A8/D9 | P47 | P51 | Spitfire | I16 | C101 | L39 | F86F | MiG15 | MiG19 | MiG21 | FC3 | A10C | AJS37 | AV8BNA | F5 | F14 | F16 | F/A18 | M2000 | JF17 | Christen Eagle | Yak52 | SA342 | UH1H | Mi8 | Ka50 | Combined Arms | NS430 | Persian Gulf | Normandy | Channel | Syria | NTTR | WWII Assets

lwalter Posted January 24, 2023 Author Posted January 24, 2023 Thanks! But Oculus Quest 2 already supports in-built hand tracking and you can activate it for standalone games in the headset. How can you force hand tracking with Oculus Quest 2 rather than controller tracking in DCS? iMac Retina 5K, 27-inch, i7 4 GHz, 32 GB RAM, AMD R9 M395X 4 GB | Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog | Cougar MFD | MFG Crosswind | EDTracker Pro | Realteus ForceFeel DCS World | Bf109 | Fw190 A8/D9 | P47 | P51 | Spitfire | I16 | C101 | L39 | F86F | MiG15 | MiG19 | MiG21 | FC3 | A10C | AJS37 | AV8BNA | F5 | F14 | F16 | F/A18 | M2000 | JF17 | Christen Eagle | Yak52 | SA342 | UH1H | Mi8 | Ka50 | Combined Arms | NS430 | Persian Gulf | Normandy | Channel | Syria | NTTR | WWII Assets
EFGross Posted January 26, 2023 Posted January 26, 2023 Setting up to show the hands in PCVR via link by setting up a developer account is in the linked post and video. Took about 5 minutes to do once Meta's stupid 2 factor verification system started working in order to verify the developer account. The HTCC software is one option to use the hands like how a leapmotion unit does it. OpenXR toolkit apparently also has an option to use the Q2 hand tracking but also requires a developer account to show the hands (fyi I havent had time to verify it it works on my computer - unfortunately HTCC wasn't). Meta is being stingy and won't allow hand tracking outside of headset installed apps without a developer account.

How can you force hand tracking with Oculus Quest 2 rather than controller tracking in DCS? It requires the game to support it, or external software. A lot of standalone games support it, but not all. The Quest does not have the ability to make hand tracking work in every game, even standalone mode. Full hand tracking support requires Eagle Dynamics to write code adding it to DCS (which is now possible given they're using native OpenXR, via XR_ext_handtracking). Without that, HTCC, Virtual Desktop, or OpenXR Toolkit are your options. 1 My projects: OpenKneeboard - VR and non-VR kneeboard with optional support for drawing tablets; get help HTCC - Quest hand tracking for DCS; get help If you need help with these projects, please use their 'get help' links above; I'm not able to track support requests on these forums.
jnr4817 Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 Meta updste v50 just added direct touch. Should have support for hand tracking in dcs now? 9800x3d|64 GB 6200|4090|m.2 x2 http://www.blacksharkden.com/ Come join us!
actually_fred Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 (edited) 'direct touch' is very specialized - it gives better support for touching flat surfaces on quest *that are specifically extended to support directtouch*, and which may be floating in a 3D environment. It does not give the ability to touch 3D environments themselves, like cockpits or even the DCS menus, as (a) they're not on quest (b) DCS doesn't say report they're flat - it just provides an image for each eye combining the game world/background and the menus (c) they don't have the code to support directtouch Edited March 10, 2023 by actually_fred My projects: OpenKneeboard - VR and non-VR kneeboard with optional support for drawing tablets; get help HTCC - Quest hand tracking for DCS; get help If you need help with these projects, please use their 'get help' links above; I'm not able to track support requests on these forums.
