Does the AI prioritize the Targetting zone, as in look for the intended targets in Zone 1 and then when they are all out, go to Zone 2, etc etc ? Or do they just attack in Zone 1 and then go home if nothing left in Zone 1 and there is still targets in Zone 2? I sure hope they do becuase that would bring a whole new tactical realm to mission building. I guess I could test it myself but being lazy, maybe someone already knows the answer to this question.

For me the AI doesn't care if there are targets in Zone 1 (there only zone) if they havn't seen them before come to the next waypoint.

It seems like the AI have to detect an enemy within there target zone, then they will engage. Otherwise they will just fly past that zone and on to the next waypoint.

One example is that I put 3 ground-attack aircrafts flying over an enemy base with a target point covering the whole base, hoping that they would engage the enemy.. But no one did, they obviously didn't spot the ground units on the ground until they had flown past the base and then was shot down. The only what was to put a point target and manually select which enemy to attack.

Did you give them permission to engage from your Battle Station?

How do you mean give them permission?

This was some Su-27 which had one waypoint 500 at meter altitude some 5 km before the target zone which included Ground units, buldings, etc.

Give them the command to "Attack My Target" or "Go SEAD", or something telling them to do there mission. If you don't give them the right command, they will dutifully fly next to you.

I think we are talking of different things here... I'm talking of aircrafts and other vehicles that are not my wingmen, AI units that I can not speak to, and the targeting zones I'm talking of is those specified in the mission editor for their waypoints.

Did you "extend" the targeting route leg by adding a consequtive WP in the direction of the base after the targeting WP?

Yes I did, one waypoint south of the base (5-10km from the base) with the targeting area over the base and parented to that waypoint and the next one north of the base.

Sometimes one of the aircrafts would attack some singel random unit with an air-to-ground missile, sometimes the flew over them did and did some nice maneuvers to avoid AAA, but they newer flew back and attacked after that even though they must have noticed the units due to the AAA fire.

I guess aircrafts have ha hard time spotting vehicles and small buildings on the ground, but how do I force them to notice them earlier? (Recomended flight height for air-to-ground aircrafts, lower air speed etc.?)

Attach your mission here. We'll take a look-see.

Dusty, the AI should move from zone to zone. However, if they expend all of their munitions in one zone, they might skip the next one. This should be tested, because it might depend on payload and number of detected targets.
