eV1Te Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 How does the AI work for surface to air missile systems that requires several modules (for example S-300, Patriot, Hawk)? In real life the S-300 for example require several modules to operate (54K6 Command vehicle, 64H6E and 30N6 Search and Target radar vehicles (SR and TR in the mission editor) and 5P85C/D Launch vehicles) and would not work without having them. How should one configure a battery of any of these systems so that they work as intended in the mission editor? (Is one of each vehicle is sufficient for full effectivity? How many Launch vehicles can one have per command post etc.?) If I take out the targeting radar vehicle would the launch vehicles also be disabled? How does ammunition count work, should one have some kind of ammunition truck nearby with additional missiles? The SA-11 9A310M1 is a TELAR (which have a radar in the luanch vehicle), but there is a separate radar 9S18M1 available in the mission editor, does that one increase the effectivity of the 9A310M1 if used in the same group?
fox_111 Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 I mostly put Hawk sites in my mission, for their simplicity. I create a group of 3 units. Let's say 3 lunchers. I place them on the ground and then change the middle one to a radar. It work with any SAM unit. Creat a group and change the units in it to have lunchers, tracking radar, search radar and other utility units necessary. If you take down the tracking radar, I think the missils don't shoot anymore. Sometime, I shoot the radar first and a missil may lunch a few second after. I don't know if it's because I'm too close and it's a secondary lunch option or something. But most of the time, taking out the radar render the missils useless.
