bumfire Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 (edited) How to run the file This is taken from a post in one of the threads I posted. run the test.vbs script from the cmd prompt. make sure you run cmd as admin <--- important , then type this C:\Users\CHANGE ME\Desktop\test.vbs so save the fix onto your desktop and open up the admin command prompt and then type the above that is in bold into the command window but changing the part that says change me to what your own pc says and once you have done that push enter. But you must select to run the command prompt with administrator privileges or it wont work, you will get permssion denied error if you dont run with admin privileges. Lots and lots of people are having the same problem, their vista pc's crashing with no BSoD error and not only in games and the only indication they are getting is the evnt viewer messages that you are getting, so I would think that this is the cause of your problem since soo many other people are suffering the same thing, but if this doesnt work then you are going to have to look elsewhere for the cause, i.e hardware or some other piece of software. redtone Posted January 31, 2009 Author Posted January 31, 2009 whats the power supply rating? supply will shut down if the video card is drawing to much amps from 12volt lines. safety feature on many new psu. =hence pc shutting down. really need min 650watt supply for a 9800gtx and above. i have the oc version runs fine on 650watt supply. again could be overheating check dust inside case? I have a shaw 730 watt psu with dual fans. I had a feel of the graphics card and it is quite hot to touch. I rearranged my cooling fans ( 4 of them + 2 on PSU) within the box so the card gets better airflow. Got latest graphics drivers installed and getting latest Win updates now. See how all this goes. The script file just comes up with an error saying line 7 char: 1 error: Not found code: 80041002 source: SWbemServicesEx Im thinking its a hardware prob due to the fact it has happened with xp as well (I have Dual boot on this System). Funny that its only with dcs. I had the Cpu and Memory loaded up at 100% for 3 hrs without a hitch. Well maybe a hot graphics card. See how we go. thanks for everyones help.
bumfire Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 hmm, I dont know why your getting that error, I have no clue, but I would read up on the problem and read the links i posted, especially the first one, read all the reply's also and see if they help you, thats all I can say as I wouldnt rule this problem out as being the cause but then again if the same thing happens when you are using xp also then that points to something deeper and possibly hardware related. I dont envy you as now you have to figure out what piece of hardware is the cause :( I hope you get to the bottom of this soon as its crap that its ruining your flying experience.

redtone Posted February 5, 2009 Author Posted February 5, 2009 Solution found Well it was the graphics card all along The MSI Nvidia GTX9800 was getting too hot running Black Shark and was causing a system shutdown. I put in an Gigabyte ATI 4650 and the game has been flawless. Apart from the reduced graphics. The system temp using the 9800 was up to 74 degrees while the cpu was around 40, with the 4650 system temp dosent get above 45 degrees. My question now to all you techo's out there is how do I run the 9800 and keep it cool. :joystick:
DragonRR Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 I don't have one of these cards myself but it doesn't sound ALL that hot: http://uk.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=26338322 It sounds like. 1. You have a problem with the PSU, the 4650 probably needs less power than the 9800GTX. I know your PSU is 730w which should be more than enough but if it's a cheaper PSU (or has a fault) it may not be able to sustain the power required. System shutdowns/trips are often related to brief power interruptions. 2. Faulty graphics card. [sIGPIC]Click me to go to the post[/sIGPIC]

I have replaced the PSU and put the 9800 back in and have been playing BS for 6-8 hours without a single crash. This sim rocks when everything is working. Was worth the $150 I spent to fix my Problem so people keep trying its worth it in the end.:pilotfly::pilotfly:
bumfire Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 PSU's should be the best that you can afford for a pc, never skimp on a PSU, if you can afford the best then buy the best when it comes to PSU's. I have fixed so many peoples pc's and even my own when it comes to power units not being able to handle the load and causing problems, people think that X amount of watts is good especially if it says 1000 watts or so, but I never look at the wattage I go by the amps, more amps = good, loads of watts tells me nothing. Out of all the pc components I will always say that a psu is the most crucial and should never be skimmped on due to the fact that it has to power everything inside your pc and with graphics cards these days requiring mini nuclear power stations to run its getting harder and harder for psu's to do so without causing problems especially if people upgrade vid cards alot but forget to upgrade their power unit at the same time. Glad you got your problem fixed and that your able to fly now without any problem ;)
