Swearinbag Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 Hello everyone, Since I've tried various sources to find the actual timings of DLY 1 and DLY 2 on the Electrical Fuze Mode Selector knob on the Armament section of the RIO seat (Left front) I'm trying this place to find out what the actual "preset" time values are as mentioned in both the wiki page as in the Chuck's guide version. My guess is that they are officially still classified (?) as I can't find anything about them. Are these implemented ingame and how much are these values ingame (regardless of real life values or so). Asking so that I can move on with my life and perhaps use them in a more efficient way. Attached screenshot from Chuck's guides for reference.
Swearinbag Posted February 11, 2023 Author Posted February 11, 2023 After limited testing (50ft AGL, 600 knots in active pause and some fiddling with modes) I concluded that DLY 1 and DLY 2 have absolutely no difference to INST. (Please correct me if I'm wrong)
BuzzLine Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 Those delays are measured in milliseconds (or dozens of) in order to allow the bomb to penetrate a bit before exploding. Not sure how much of that is implemented in DCS but here's some light (?) reading on the question of bomb fusing : https://www.fighterpilotpodcast.com/musing/understanding-the-fmu-139-and-its-employment-options/ And some less light reading in this master's thesis : https://trace.tennessee.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=2979&context=utk_gradthes
