  1. Bringing back Max on an exchange tour with the ALAT flying Gazelles would be nice !
  2. There are already a few missions available in the user files section, using the SA map. This is an example : https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/fr/files/3332713/
  3. The list of landing places in the ATC communications submenu is sorted by distance, closest at the top. So once you're close to the ship, that should be the first one listed. The frequency may or may not have been changed by the mission designer. But in doubt, you can try on 127.5 AM, which is the default.
  4. Call them on the radio and say you are "inbound".
  5. I get weird looks when people ask me what got me to start learning russian and I answer "to read the cockpit labels in my virtual plane". Back on topic : I flew in circles for 20' in an F18 and didn't get anything AP-related on the UFC. With wpt, without, auto sequence wpt, nothing. Try a full repair ?
  6. role-playing it all the way, I love it !!
  7. (I'll assume everything is setup correctly, fuel pump is on, magnetos on, etc.) Just a hunch : make sure you continue pushing (pulling ?) the starter button long enough. I used to have the same trouble, thinking the engine was not starting, but it was because I was releasing the button too soon. Maybe you're doing the same thing ?
  8. Thanks ! I followed your advice, it's indeed a very good book.
  9. I picked up a great tip some time ago : zoom out. The issue is that in 2D (and even a bit in VR), we lack the peripheral vision to gauge small movements. Zooming out (*really* out) looks awful and distorted but it will help anticipate those small movements. In VR, like in real life, look far ahead.
  10. Nope, no saves by default. Some campaign makers build their missions in two parts or allow an air start right before the action but it's tricky to manage and quite time-consuming for them so it's rarely done. Speaking of campaigns, there's a free one that any Hornet driver should try, it's as good as most paid campaigns and even better than many :
  11. Campaigns like Raven One (both of them) or Fear the Bones are magnificent pieces of artwork with excellent production value and a lot of immersion. If that is your thing then my opinion is that it is worth buying SC (maybe on sale if budget is tight) to have access to those. But then again, it depends on your taste and the type of experience your are looking for in DCS.
  12. Actual F16 manuals are easy to find on the Internet but I'm not sure they can be shared here. The supplement with the appendices has all the charts you may want to use to adjust based on gross weight, altitude, temperature, pitch angle, center of gravity, etc. I found someone rule-of-thumbed it to "70kts + 3*gross_weight_in_kpound" so a 30k lbs tow gets you 3x30+70=160 t/o speed. Rotation speed is 15kts lower if on afterburner, 10kts lower if dry. That gets you 145/150kts for the rotation which seems about right for a light plane in normal conditions (altitude/temperature-wise).
  13. I'm working my way through the campaign and had this same issue at M2. I switched the condition (>12m AGL and >11kts) to a simple "unit outside zone" and it flowed perfectly well.
  14. And ... all done. Amazing campaign ! No issue to report aside from the usual AI misbehaviors, like wingmen not taking off for several minutes sometimes. Also, the Spitfire air cover in M7 (the v1 site) did not really engage the enemy: one pass then they hauled a... Maybe they ran out of fuel and went home ? I had lost an engine due to flak and got downed by the 190s but I probably would have outrun them on two engines. But everything that matters worked. Superb work, again.
  15. To whoever is interested: Netflix has a movie called "The Bombardment" about Operation Carthage with surprisingly good-looking Mosquito scenes. A great companion to a great mission, my favorite of all the daytime ones. An excerpt : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYNlewIxAvg "Watch for seagulls"
  16. @Flappie I think the Spitfire has the same issue. I can recheck if needed. MT+2D.
  17. M4: what a blast ! It helped to have seen your Youtube video, I'll admit. Those searchlights are terrifying down low, I got blinded several times. Minor detail : Tacview-20230312-221035-DCS-VV - 04.zip.acmi
  18. Hey Reflected, I've been waiting for that campaign ever since you talked about it and so far (2 missions done, crashed in a tree during 3rd) I'm absolutely loving it, it's everything I hoped it would be. I was flying so low I picked up a few nits for when you have a second: Unless they are jokes that I missed (am still flying so low, lots of things can pass over my head ), I think there's a few typos in the english subtitles: all (?): "This is Air Sea Rescue, recieving you loud and clear."=> receiving intro : "capatin" , "arthery" , "appauling" There's a few minor issues with cosmetic triggers: M1 : as I was flying back from the convoy, pilot said "roger" out of nowhere. Could be his answer to the "This is Dungeness, we're almost home" call that was missing. M2 : I took off late for oboe and the call "it's time, heading 087, altitude 25k ft" happened while I was still taxiing. Thanks again, congrats, and looking forward to flying the rest of the missions ! EDIT: pressed <enter> before I could actually type my message
  19. Well what do you know. Official fixes seem to be in today's patch. From reading the code, I can see: The very first "End Mission" bug from way back when : fixed The one caused by trains : fixed The custom campaigns : probably fixed (They wrote a different fix than mine so I don't know, but let's assume it works too) Note : this is for todays openbeta. If someone reads this and is still on stable, either wait, upgrade, or use the two files I fixed (a few messages up). Even better : use the official me_logbook.lua and me_campaign.lua files from today's patch, the only differences with the stable branch are the fixes for those bugs.
  20. An elegant weapon display system, for a more civilized age. I love learning how stuff works. Thank you for sharing !
  21. They might be 737s flying for JANET airline. Old timers who flew FSX back in the days might remember that there was a mission flying one of those shuttle flights between Las Vegas and Area 51.
  22. +1 on the UH60, especially since it is free Mi24 FM is interesting too, "feels" right too but it's a tricky beast to fly, being both heavy and powerful. But Huey remains my favorite to learn helicoptering.
  23. Yes, you have to re-apply the fix after updates. I usually post my updated version whenever they change the file. Good news is that all should be fixed in the next official patch. If not, then I'll post a new file in this thread.
