Delta-canard Posted February 23, 2023 Posted February 23, 2023 A first-world problem here: I have a hybrid hotas made of a Winwing F-16 throttle and a Vkb Gunfighter stick with the MCG grip (more-less Su-35 layout) with extension. I sort of assumed that I'd have to convert to a more Viper-wish setup by removing the extension, moving the desk mount to the side and shortening it. A lot of tinkering... And I still fly other modules (mostly the Mirage and the JF-17) for which centerstick layout fits perfectly. On the other hand, if I move to the side I will still have a moving stick but I'd give up the added precision of the long stick. Barring a separate base, possibly force-sensing one (no budget for the moment), would you recommend rearranging for a side-mounted side stick or keeping it long and center mounted?
Munkwolf Posted February 23, 2023 Posted February 23, 2023 i have vkb gf as center stick with extension, and realsimulator fssb + f16 grip as side stick. i also like to fly lots of different things. if i were you, unless flying the viper a large majority of the time (like, almost exclusively), i'd keep the vkb as a center stick. why change things for one module if the setup works perfect for many other modules you'll still be flying? then if possible and really wanting a viper stick, save up for a dedicated force-sensing side stick.
