Wolf Rider Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 (edited) It seems some are lucky then... Even on the AMD forum, there is a thread about this glitch. DCS won't start with Catalyst AI set to Advanced or Standard, yet when doing the alt-tab to set Affinty, the AI can be switched to the settings and run. The problem lies solely wwith the Launcher.exe side of things and whatever is affecting it Edited March 31, 2009 by Wolf Rider City Hall is easier to fight, than a boys' club - an observation :P "Resort is had to ridicule only when reason is against us." - Jefferson "Give a group of potheads a bunch of weed and nothing to smoke out of, and they'll quickly turn into engineers... its simply amazing." connos Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Vista Ultimate 64 4GB and 9.2 no problems here. Only crash I had was with superfentch enable. Note that I don't use driver cleaners due to the problems they cause and I update my drivers without even unistalling the previous version. As ATI noted unistalling previous version is not needed any more. Eggcake Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Running 8.12, having no problems (Vista Business 64). Updating to 9.2 today or tomorrow. And you really don't need driver cleaner. You even don't need to reboot on vista when you don't install the previous drivers. However, I still deinstall them, though it isn't necessary. Don't know why, just got used to it ;)
JasBird Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Just replaced my old Nvidia 8600GT card with a ATI 4850. Was really disapointed with performance. No change at all, infact I think it was a little worse. Better picture quality with the ATI and it seems I get same FPS no matter what resolution, so atleast I can run a little higher res. Tried some settings with the ATI setup and as already mentioned here, I got launch error when put Catalyst AI to advanced. The default setting is Standard, but then I disabled the Catalyst AI and now I got a FPS increase of around 20 atleast after watching a few replays  I also did a reinstall of DirectX 9.0c before I did this test, so maybe that had something to do with the FPS boost. Anyways just wanted to let everyone know.
