Hello

Had the game a few days now and I've experience quite a few crashes. I went through most of the training misisons and had it crash during only one of them i think. I then did a few of the single missions and it crashed a couple of times during them. I then started to do the campaign (the 1st one in the list) but can not get past the first fam flight, as it has crashed everytime I have flown it ~10 times! It varies how long before crashing, sometimes its after about 5or10 minutes flight, sometimes its longer, after say 20 or so, and just now it has crashed just before coming in to land at the end.

The crash itself begins with a quick flicker of the screen, and then everything freezes. No matter what key combos I press, I can't get it off the frozen screen, back to windows etc. After about half a minute or so it goes to a black screen with a cursor flashing in the top left. Sometimes a message will come up saying about nv4_display driver I think it says. but this doesn't come up everytime.

I have tried lowering the settings, but my machine isn't struggling up until this point, and it will happen at random times, even in level flight without looking around or doing anything out of the ordinary.

I've also updated my video drivers to the latest ones.

My PC specs:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4600+ (2.41GHz)

2GB RAM

NVidia 8600 GT

Windows XP Pro SP3 (32bit)

Creative SB Audigy sound card

Single monitor

I've attached 3 of the .crash files.

Please help! thanks

If its nv4_disp thats your nvidia video card driver, try uninstalling and then reinstalling your video card driver or try a newer video card driver and hopefully that will cure the problem.

nv4_disp is a well known BSoD error and is usually fixed by reinstalling either the same or older or newer drivers.

When uninstalling drivers, make sure you run driver cleaner or some other program to get rid of the parts of the driver that will be left behind, their is always some parts of drivers left behind and you really need to use drivercleaner or a program similar to that to clear them out or you may still end up with the same problem when you reinstall newer or older drivers.

when you have uninstalled your driver, boot into safe mode and run driver sweeper or driver cleaner and that will take care of the left overs then reboot into normal mode and install your older/same/newer drivers but only do that once you have run driver sweeper or driver cleaner in safe mode.

Thanks for the reply. I'd tried uninstalling and reinstalling new drivers but hadn't tried driver cleaner.

I did that and seemed ok for a while, but then it crashed in the same way so the problems still there.

Any other suggestions I could try?

Hm yeah tried that.

Started out on geForce driver 180.84 beta when i got the game.

Tried cleaning and updating to 181.22, still crashed. Went back to 180.84, still crashed. Even tried going back to 178.24 but no luck.

Fairly sure my cards not broken, I've had it from new and havne't had any problems with it till now really.

Pretty much means I can't play the sim at the moment, which is not good!

Hello

That description is close to what I was getting..

When the screen freezes.. Can you still move your mouse around? Do you see the BS yellow cross hair mouse pointer? And does it change to a typical windows white arrow mouse pointer when you move it near the center of the screen?

If so see this thread..

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=37602

Your log files show random BS DLL ACCESS_VIOLATIONS..

Where mine were pretty consistent..

10 out of 13 ACCES_VIOLATIONS were due to Effects.DLL

Anyway..

Long story short (too late?)

The fix for me was to un-install BS and re-install it

My computer specs are nearly identical to the thread starter.

Differences...

1. My Nvidia driver is about 8 -12 months old

2. I have SP2

3. XP Pro 64-bit (I don't think that matters though)

4. My game runs fine

I would try getting an older video driver ( I'm not sure how old the last driver you posted is), not just rollback 1 or 2 drivers and also try to get SP2 instead of 3

I always keep drivers on my computer roughly 8 - 12 months old because new software/drivers always break programs it seems.

Thanks for responses all.

Think I may have got to the bottom of it. Checked with the graphics card tech support and they said this was probably a result of either cooling, or power related issues.

Consequently I've bought a more powerful PSU and cleaned up the graphics card fan as best I can. Been playing for a week and it hasn't crashed on me yet.

Strange that it hasn't happened on other games on this PC before. I guess they never really pushed my card as much as BS does.
