Hey all,

I'm not exactly sure how to explain this...but here it goes.

I've been playing the training mission found here: http://tinyurl.com/bxmwel

I've played it constantly for the last week or so in order to get use to the aircraft's systems. It's a great starter mission but I start running into issues near the end of the mission.

Before I go into details let me just say that yes, I tink everything is calibrated and mapped correctly to my Cyborg Evo joystick.... ;)

When I take off, the controls work as I expect them to. I'm able to smoothly turn and trim the aircraft with no issues what so ever. I attack the first set of targets with no problems but once I get to waypoint 4 to attack the troops and tents, the controls start to go a bit "crazy". I find it very hard to stabilize despite all of those three blue buttons being on (...can't recall thier name right now...). I did notice that these targets are in a vally surrounded by hills, so could it be wind that is causing so much dancing of the helo? Dunno

Also, at that point I'm using guns and rockets, and I'm still not use to firing those, so this might just be a situation where I'm chasing the controls too much when I'm using weapons that I need to aim using the nose of the aircraft. :joystick:

I think because I'm making multiple turns and course changes, I may be getting the aircraft in an unstable state without even knowing it.

...any thoughts about when I'm doing wrong, or is there a control issue with the game after a certain amount of time played?

Thanks,

D

Hey - the only thing I can think of is maybe your have Auto-Turn on Target still active and not centered after you have disengaged. Maybe not but just a thought

i7-12700k, 32GB Ram, RTX 3060 12GB, TrackIR 5, Lots of SSD Space, etc etc

I have expirience some lost of control with my X-52 Stick at times after a few minutes of the mission this only happen to me when Im online not offline.

But I have learn that going to fast or over triming can lead to many error on the nav system. I learn and map my Heading Hold button to my stick, when ever Im going to change direction I turn to my new heading then turn off and then back on my Heading Hold button.

This works better than triming to the new heading, Try to lower your graphics to low all and try the mission again if it happens again then is not FPS related.

Also don't try to go to fast when manuvering, easy inputs on the stick and Heading Hold ;) does the job for me.

Before you warn me, make sure you have help first and succeded in doing so.

Yeah. Thought of that around the time I really started to see this control issue. But no, I don't think it's causing it...but I always check that now as part of my "getting out of hover" procedure.

I remember reading that the trim controls do get into a bad state every once an a while. Can anyone confirm that?

I get this sometimes after being in the air for a half hour or so. The only thing that fixes it for me is a trim reset, now I have that maped to a key on my stick. Keep in mind it will reset to the default pre takeoff state where the nose will pitch up so you shouls hit trim reset, stabilize then hit trim again. This also happens sometimes when Im using auto turn on target, it just randomly starts turning any direction it wants, even if I have a target locked up and in the bounding box.

I remember reading something about accumulated errors, don't know if this pertains to the trim for sure though.

Hey Slayer...that's exactly the behavior that I'm experiencing. I'll take a look at the trim reset and give that a try.

Thanks

I'm getting the OPs problem now that I'm staying in the air for longer periods of time. Could it be shifting weight as weapons are expended? As well as twitchier controls, I'm getting uncommanded yaw (have tried heading hold button on/off, checked my turn to target button and WPT buttons).

have the same probs, i think its just accumulated errors in the ap though, check your rudders (should be centered), make sure enroute mode is off, make sure auto target mode (q-key) is off, make sure alt-hold is off (it will stay on after having entered hover mode) or youll be fighting the autopilot....are you sure you use trim correct? hold trim for large inputs and tap for small input changes, realease when stabilized on new heading, make sure your not inputting rudder when releasing (unless its very windy). when free flying, always use the autpilot director on, adf off for when in hover mode, enroute mode, or for those boring straight flights...when in adf trim once ( i ussually trim for 160-200 kmh's horizontal flight) then u can just fly and change heading and fly low through cities under bridges etc withouth having to even touch trim whatsoever and your not fighting the ap.

u can use "right control + enter" to see what the autopilot is doing and check rudders, u can ofc also look down and check rudder that way but the rctlr+enter options is helpfull if u start learning to fly and will prevent u from learning bad habits, like having to use trim reset while flying ;P. make sure your fps is above 20 (pref 24)

Open that mission in mission editor and check weather settings, look for turbulence. Is it 0? If not, try to make it 0 and fly to that valley for a test.
