neofit Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Hi, Are there any resources that would teach a new player how to fly these planes? I've bought the bound manual but it is useless in that respect. OK, I am glad I now know that missile X was built in OKB Y under General Constructor Z, and I already knew what a yo-yo is. It's good to know how to operate the weaponry, but what about the basics, I still need to reach combat after all and hopefully get back home too. What are the correct procedures to take off, navigate and land on these jet planes? I'm not even sure whether modern jets need flaps to take-off or land, how much, all of it or depending on weight, at what speeds can they be used, etc... How does the HSI work? The few lines in the manual don't explain anything, nor does the first SU-25 training mission. I am flying on a heading of 270, the waypoint indicator shows a heading of 001, so we'll do a 001-045=316 and head to 316... Yeah, sure, if the Holy Scriptures say so :). Is there any doc that would explain that properly? Usually when the waypoint is at 001 we just turn to 001... Perusing the forums I found that people want to set their pedals to work as "toe brakes". There is nothing about toes brakes in the .pdf files that came with the game. What are these and why would I want to have them on my pedals (X-52 Pro + saitek pedals) instead of the rudder? I've tried a quick mission with my SU-25 vs a ground vehicle, just to fly around. After a couple of minutes I noticed my plane was losing height, checked the gauges and noticed my throttle became stuck at 20%, I don't remember being hit, heard nothing, and the plane was not smoking. Adding throttle on the stick would not add to the plane throttle. What could be the problem? Are there any secret procedures to restart the engine, any secret things not to do in flight so they don't go into this idle/off mode? Are there any missions where I start on the ground to learn taking off and landing, or do I have to learn the editor to do that? Thanks.
