captflyby Posted March 19, 2023 Posted March 19, 2023 I know I hear a lot of talk about "this is secret. no information. we therefore cannot model it"...but we can't just make it up either, after all this is reality??? No nuke, missles that do not travel their real life distance, arcade game style flaming cliffs F-15C, etc. is not reality either. So I humbly request the ability for in-game reality management. As an example, for starters, a 50% increase to the thrust of the engines of the FA-18C. Remember - missles don't go their full distance, so why shouldn't the jet go faster that it would normally? IRL F18 Superhornet has been put up for an increase of 20% thrust to its engines. Even those who built the real thing, realize it is under powered for that task at hand.

In some ways ED is stuck using whatever real data they can find. If they were to make it up and got lucky that it happened to match IRL, how do you prove that you randomly came up with that and didn't use classified documents to come up with it? They'd have no way to prove it and it could cause them a lot of grief. And equally important, ED is aiming for as close to reality as it's possible for them to do. Are they/can they get it all right? Not likely, but that's what they're aiming for and they aren't going to turn it into War Thunder. And adding options for "in-game reality management" is going to require a pile more development time and likely increase the overhead in the game/reduce performance. So while you're free to humbly request it, I wouldn't hold your breath for ED to move that direction at all. 2
