How to jettison the external Wing tanks ?

Hello

I had a bad surpise yesterday.

 

on the flash point levant server, i was tasked for a strike mission. My ordonnance was as follow :

 

1  x Magic II  | 1 x SAM 250 chute bombs | Wing External tank | 4 x SAM chute Bombs | Wing External tank | | 1 x SAM 250 chute bombs | 1  x Magic II

The Targets was at 100Nm away so 200Nm in total. Midway, I notice that i had way more fuel than needed and i decided to drop the External wing tanks, so i set the switch to Voilure ( red switch: wing ) and pressed the largage button ( jettison). I was badly suprised when it only drop my SAM 250 chute bomb under the wings but my external wing tank remain in place....

So its impossible to jettison the external wing tank unless you press the Detress (emergency) button that will jettison everything except the magic II missiles ?

 

What happens if you leave the switch in the middle position and press the button 3 ? it will jettison ordonnance under the wings and fuselage ?

If you look closely at the selective jettison switch you will notice that the middle and upper positions are actually both connected to the "VOL" label as "1" (middle position) and "2" (upper position).

2 jettisons the outer wing pylons and 1 jettisons the inner wing pylons
