Remove stick from standard warthog base?

Hi,

I bought a 2nd hand flight stick (warthog). I was wondering if I can remove this stick to change it for F18 e.g.. I had the loose magnetic base before which obviously can be switched.

But this one I now have feels quite locked so before I over push things I thought I check it out here before. I was thinking that maybe the standard version is not disconnectable.

Of course, there's a large knurled metal ring to unscrew it and remove the stick. Can try a strap spanner if it's too tight. Perhaps it's just overtightened?

You need to hold the stick in place to avoid too much force on the lower gimbal part of the base. What I always do if I loosen the stick is to hold it in place with one hand and turn the large grey nut with the other. If you watch the nut from the top you need to turn it counter clowise to loosen it.

Edit: The mod istself dispalyed in the video is something I cannot say anything about. I opened my base several times and like the greasing solution to get it smoother. Additionally there are softer springs available from 3rd party which are working good as well. I have the green spring from Sahaj.

Thanks. With some kitchen tool I could open it

I was surprised how small the A10 stick is compared to F18. Can't even place my whole hand on it. Need to change that back.
