oho Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 (edited) Hello all, I read the posts and the FAQ for autohover but I still can't get it to a real autohover - sorry. Perhaps somebody could help me: It seems that autohover only works when i managed to bring the helo into a zero movement hover myself and then press autohover. I manage to bring it to around 3 kph (i have all 3 autopilot buttons on) , often sidemovements and/or backwards, holding down trim-button and / or not holding down - that's not the problem. In any trim-condition (pushed and not pushed): when I press auto-hover it is still moving very slowly backwards/sidewards. Also when i hit the trimmer after the auto-hover, this has the only effect that the square is repositioned in the center and then it still wanders off the center (very slowly). Is there something that I've overlooked? If not, how can decrease side movements to zero quickly? Do I have to turn into the wind perhaps to make it more stable? Thanks for some tipps. connos Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 (edited) How do you Trim. In your post it seems you are not correcting using Trim. Your put your input press the trim button and release center Joystick to apply the trim. The important is that is when the button is released that is when it applies the Trim. At around 15-10 Speed while the BS is steady Trim and then set Auto Hover. oho Posted February 4, 2009 Author Posted February 4, 2009 I tried different ways to use the trim: I know that after the release the trim is set. So if I have it near 0 speed i release trim and the stick but it's still moving while in autohover. Do you get a stabilization over the square with 10 - 15 kph? Perhaps I'm not fast enough with releasing the stick after releasing trim?

(therefore movement) another cause that it may not be stable after auto hover is when you lowered the cyclic to much (it takes a couple of sec to feel the results) and then it doesn't have enough force to keep you up. this is what i noticed so far.. hope it helps Spoiler AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, MSI MEG X570 UNIFY (AM4, AMD X570, ATX), Noctua NH-DH14, EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti XC3 ULTRA, Seasonic Focus PX (850W), Kingston HyperX 240GB, Samsung 970 EVO Plus (1000GB, M.2 2280), 32GB G.Skill Trident Z Neo DDR4-3600 DIMM CL16, Cooler Master 932 HAF, Samsung Odyssey G5; 34", Win 10 X64 Pro, Track IR, TM Warthog, TM MFDs, Saitek Pro Flight Rudders
Mugatu Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 I look at it as a hover hold rather than an upper mode afcs function that really does put you in a hover when you tell it to. I try to get into a really stable hover then engage it, otherwise it seems to drift all over the show!! -going to 3 kph: is good -"holding down the trim button" i don't get it why (i red that in the forum before). the most easy method is: find a stable movement that you want to follow (eg: pitch down for speed--so you hold the joystick forward) while holdin joy. forward press trim button (once) than quickly bring joystick in normal position. - it's trimed (aka: behaves like you were still holding the joy. forward) autohover: sometimes it takes a couple of seconds to get the stable alt. oho Posted February 4, 2009 Author Posted February 4, 2009 thanks for the answers. Just one question: Does the heli stabilize to zero speed automaticaly also when slightly moving while pressing and releasing the trim button and in auto-hover in your experience or do i have to have always exactly zero speed to get to auto hover?
HansRoaming Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 I've noticed sometimes that the thing can drift very very slowly, thought it might be accumulative errors in the INU causing the drift. The comment about hover hold seems very appropriate. One thing I've noticed is that I can sometimes have it trimmed up etc, engage the hover and it starts going all over the place. Afterwards it feels like the autopilot is off (I've started to fly with the AP off to train up flying skills) even though the AP buttons are lit. Might have engaged auto hover under 4m though so that could be a trigger.
Bisch Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 About the trimming hints... shouldn't you distinguish between player who have an FFB-Stick and an Non-FFB-Stick as trimming procedure shoule be completley different as far as I understood.
