Leviathan667 Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 In a book titled Patrolling the Cold War Skies, author Philip Keeble and ex-RAF pilot wrote: Quote ‘C44+8’ is a weapons state abbreviation. It gives the operational state of the aircraft—the fuel tank fit, number and type of missiles, and the gun. In this case: ‘Charlie fit’ is two under-wing fuel tanks; four heat-seeking missiles; four radar-seeking missiles; ‘+’ is a full gun; and all eight missiles capable of head-on shots. Unfortunately, the author does not elaborate anymore than that. I am looking for more information on this abbreviation. E.g. how would it look like when used to describe a bombing fit? A recce fit? Etc. Thanks Wishlist: Tornado ADV/IDS, Blackburn Buccaneer, Super Mystère B2, Saab J 35 Draken,
