PnHobbit Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 There is a small sim column in PC Gamer and the reviewer has nothing but good things to say of the game resulting from his preview copy. I think it looks like good press, and I'm very excited for the release. They also said the SU-25T will have 52,000 polygons which suprises me. Last I remember the next big thing was like 3000 polygons in Unreal 2.

Gel214th Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 Re: PC Gamer praises Flaming Cliffs Last I remember the next big thing was like 3000 polygons in Unreal 2. I'm not saying that LOMAC 1.1 isn't going to look fantastic, but you're way way in the past if the last big thing you remember is the Unreal 2 engine having 3000 polygons. Have you heard of Half Life 2? Doom 3? Or the awaited Unreal 3 engine? Come on...don't try to compare LOMAC to a past game engine. It can be compared to the latest engines out there and still hold its own.
VapoR Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 I just bought the newest issue of PC Gamer (March) and Andy Mahood's column is about a Nascar game. Is your copy the February one or something? I'm really curious to see this article.
JG27_Arklight Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 52,000 Polygons is WAY up there. That is FS2K4 Payware add-on aircraft quality. I can't wait for 1.1. SF or not, I am still buying. BIOLOG Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 Yep... Except that high-poly model takes WAY longer to load... The bird of Hermes is my name eating my wings to make me tame.
JG27_Arklight Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 Yep... Except that high-poly model takes WAY longer to load... One aircraft is not going to kill performance. Who cares if the game takes 10 secs. longer to load. Is that 10 secs. really worth worrying about? I'll take superior quality over 12-20 extra seconds ANY TIME. Times are changing and for add-ons to be worth the cost, they need to contain high quality all the way around. In terms of aircraft add-ons, that includes high poly models. I'm not worried about this issue...... Blaze The problem with Raid-0 is that if you get a disk error, both drives fail. I'm sure you have backups though. :) I can deal with load times, I'm not doing anything for that 5-10 seconds anyways.
