Hi all,

After numberous of test&try sessions, I found a combinations of graphical DCS settings that let me happy with my Reverb G2 (both in terms of visuals and fps counter, which is between 70 and 90 FPS depending on the scenery, with Motion Vector disabled).

I thought that with the above fps values, after manually set an fps max limit of 60 through the DCS autoexec.cfg file (or graphics.lua, I tried both), the game should run smoothly in most of the cases, without any need to activate Motion Vector (which I don't like at all).

Unfortunately I discovered that, after set the fps limit to 60, the game massively stutters.

So I tried with another solution by reducing my G2 refresh rate to 60 (through Windows 10 dedicated settings) and without set any fps limit or change visual settings. The game runs smoothly at 60fps without stutters at all.

I thought that the first logic of set an fps limit into DCS graphics configuration files, should work correctly, but there is something missing in my way of thinking likely.

Of course reducing G2 refresh rate can be a solution but is quite annoing and my eyes gets easely tired.

Could anybody help me to understand where I'm wrong and how to find a solution?

Thanks!!

you aren't going wrong anywhere.

your choices for smooth running without Motion Vector/reprojection/smoothing... run at 90hz, or run at 60hz  If you cannot run at 90hz, you almost certainly cant guarantee it , you have to run at 60...

you can train your eyes to "get used" to 60.. but it does take work almost like starting to use VR again from scratch, i do suggest you stay away from 90hz , and reduce the brightness(gama in game)  and/or use sunglasses in the openXR toolkit, to reduce the glare which increases the appearance of the flicker

good luck

@speed-of-heatthanks a lot for the precious hints, I'll try them and start my VR training again 😉

Try to use 90 Hz refresh rate with the G2 and use OpenXR Toolkit to limit the framerate there to 45 fps. It will be much smoother than if you let it go above that (like 60-70 fps i.e) if DCS can't sustain steady 90 fps (as it is now).

I also limit framerate to 45fps. It's never going to be as smooth as reaching 90fps or 60fps with 60Hz mode of G2, but I can't get even to 60fps with decent image quality, so I use 45fps limiter.

I tried different ways to limit fps with varying results (described here)
