kratz Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Maybe I am missing something that I need to be doing with the ABRIS... I don't fully understand how the waypoints work and whatnot, but... I take off. I hit 'R' to engage route following mode. The helicopter follows the flight plan displayed on the ABRIS. I land. I get no 'mission success' message. I hang out for a while with time accelerated to see if the guy on the radio tells me I've completed it... nothing. I finally hit ESC and 'Quit'. And my only option is 'Fly Again'. What do I need to be doing to complete this mission and move on to the next one? I'm quite frustrated after doing this mission repeatedly.
CE_Mikemonster Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Which campaign? Is it a training or combat mission? Too many cowboys. Not enough indians. GO APE SH*T
ZaltysZ Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Well, you are supposed to follow that guy in Mi-24. The key thing is "to follow". You won't complete it just by flying the route with AP on and reading newspaper or doing something else while last waypoint isn't reached. Wir sehen uns in Walhalla.
kratz Posted February 5, 2009 Author Posted February 5, 2009 I guess I missed that part... he shows up mid mission or something?
Kaitsu Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 I guess I missed that part... he shows up mid mission or something? He is right in front of you at the beginning of mission. You just have to wait couple of minutes until he takes off. He is talking with you all the time.
EtherealN Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 You know, that problem there is a luxury problem. I only finished this one on the third attempt due to embarrasing episodes of making love to electrical wires. :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
kratz Posted February 5, 2009 Author Posted February 5, 2009 Man, I am dumb. I didn't realize what was going on there. Just successfully completed the mission. Thanks!
Frederf Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 hit 'R' to engage route following mode. The helicopter follows the flight plan displayed on the ABRIS. Be aware that the autopilot route mode follows the PVI flight plan and not the ABRIS. Most of the time these will be the same flight plan but not always.
kratz Posted February 5, 2009 Author Posted February 5, 2009 Is there a similar route follow mode that follows the ABRIS flight plan?
slug88 Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 No, the AP can not take directions from the ABRIS. Nor can any other equipment on the helicopter. The ABRIS is there purely to display information being sent to it by other devices, beyond that it can not interact with or control anything on the helicopter. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
