Can you save a mission in progress?

Is it possible to save a mission that is in progress? If so how?

 

For example I go and fly a mission, and after achieving mission goals I find more targets. I want to re-arm, go back and attack but it is really, really late/early and I have to go to work next day... can I save the mission in progress and then come back to it at a later date?

Hmm, that is a great question. I have not hit the campaign yet, so I don't know. The way it seems to work I would tend to think "no," but I really don't know for sure.

 

I'm anxious to hear the answer, too.

Yeah I am thinking no also, just hoping someone could prove me wrong. I Have looked through the manual etc. BTW I am referring to single stand alone missions. I have not tried the campaign yet.

Just let the track replay in accelerated time mode and take control at the end.

I'm not sure how it affects the mission status, but what i did was go to quit and then save the replay. Next time i would load the replay, speed up time to near the point where i quit and then take control and continue the mission. This was on the courier mission, but as i haven't successfully landed on the ship yet, i don't know if it counts as a "proper" mission if i make the landing and head back to base.
