Just wondering where we are going with this. I ALWAYS have a CPU Bound with either main thread or rendering thread.

I have an 11600KF with 6 cores operating running at 5.2GHz (if I hyperthread I can only do 4.9GHz stable). I also have to 6900XT that I see at 2.4 and 99% usage as a norm. What will it take to get rid of these messages? A 10GHz CPU?

I've tried reducing all setting to an unplayable level just to see If I could get rid of the messages but that doesn't work, I still get them both. I've found that I have better results just using the generic OpenXR. Using the native OpenXR (both MT and non-MT) my FPS is in the 30's but with the generic version I'm in the 40's.

I guess I'll wait for the next update and see if ED smooths out the VR any. They've made some great strides but there is a long road to go.

With the 7950x3D, I am now GPU bound using the MT update for DCS with high settings and a Quest Pro (G2 before that, same situation).

And are you just referring to the message in the in-game FPS counter? I'm not 100% sure, but I thought I read that is a visual bug or something if it always says CPU bound even if your frame times would indicate that you aren't.

Thats strange, as with my settings in VR, on our heavily populated School server, I generally have a CPU overhead of approx +20 - 40% reported ( using the OXR performance toolkits overlay). My VR settings are not low.

I would start looking for possible issues with your system configuration. On a 7700X and a 4090, at my current settings (fairly high) I'm GPU limited all day long with 20%+ CPU headroom to spare on a Reverb G2.

You could try up your graphics settings to see if you can push ahead to the point of being GPU limited, though it seems you're already at 99% utilization so not sure how much room there is.

Anyway, you definitely don't need a 10Ghz (if one existed) CPU to not be CPU limited, especially in MT mode.

You are not CPU bound! If you have your GPU at 99% usage, your CPU is very obviously fast enough to feed the neccessary data to the GPU.

This was just a little exorcise in thinking out loud. In reality VR is still in it's infancy and there are just to many ways of doing it right now. Anybody old enough to remember the VHS-Beta wars? Once Porn decided to use VHS, it became the defacto  platform and took off quickly. I'm just hoping the industry will settle on one VR standard so that hardware manufacturers and game developers can perfect their products to that standard and move us away from the quagmire of multiple processes we are currently in.
