MAThrasher Posted May 25, 2023 Posted May 25, 2023 My Varjo Aero is supposed to be delivered tomorrow, and I have a question for current users of the headset. I think I remember seeing a post that said the Aero does not shut off and can have burn-in if left on. Is this true? What do current users do to remind you to turn off (unplug) the Aero? Windows 11, GPU: RTX-4090, Ram: 32gb, CPU: 12700k, Headset: Varjo Aero

The Aero does not shut itself off but does go into a sleep mode where just a dark screen with a bit of backlight. I use smart plugs for my headset and trackers and power them on and off through an app on my cell phone. Plus I have it set to turn off at 8:00 in the evening as a safe guard in case I ever forget. There has been an instance of burn in where Varjo replaced the headset in question, but it was left on overnight with a flight sim still active in the headset - user had set it down for a bit and forgot about it. According to Varjo they have left them on for quite some time with just the default backlight and no issues. I still would power mine off when not in use though. MAThrasher Posted May 25, 2023 Posted May 25, 2023 Thanks @dburne, that is a great idea. I have home automation and I tell Alexa when I am going to bed so certain lights are turned off. I will just add a smart plug to be turned off with the going to bed routine. 1 Windows 11, GPU: RTX-4090, Ram: 32gb, CPU: 12700k, Headset: Varjo Aero
edmuss Posted May 26, 2023 Posted May 26, 2023 Mine arrived yesterday morning, scheduled delivery was next Tuesday! 3 days to get from China to UK so credit to fedex for delivering ahead of the long weekend for me Got it hooked up late last night and generally all as expected, clarity is great and with DFR I can pull 60-80fps typically so about the same performance as with the G2@75% but the image is infinitely better. Obviously with only 90Hz refresh available I'm not able to consistently achieve refresh rate as I could with the G2 at 60Hz, however varjo base vsync is much smoother locked to 45fps than WMR and the associated ghosting is absolutely minimal in comparison. The varjo reprojection is pretty good as long as you hold above half refresh rate, I'm keeping it off for now though. Then it was 2am and I thought I ought to go to bed 3 Ryzen7 7800X3D / RTX3080ti / 64GB DDR5 4800 / Varjo Aero / Leap Motion / Kinect Headtracking TM 28" Warthog Deltasim Hotas / DIY Pendular Rudders / DIY Cyclic Maglock Trimmer / DIY Abris / TM TX 599 evo wheel / TM T3PA pro / DIY 7+1+Sequential Shifter / DIY Handbrake / Cobra Clubman Seat Shoehorned into a 43" x 43" cupboard.

And now DFR with eye tracking really tops it off.
